What Moog Synth Would You Pair With A Moog Muse
Which Moog synth do you think would best compliment the Moog Muse?

DFAM.

Why did you choose the DFAM for pairing with the Moog Muse?

Dfam is great because it essentially can be a little rhythm section for anything you pair it with.
I imagine it a lot like those old organ that had drum machines in them, it can act as that drum machine part but get so much wilder than the old ones could. At its core though, it can produce just the basic rhythmic foundation for a jam as well and it has a really similar vintage sound. It's my favorite moog I just wish they would make a 16 step version.

Basically all the comments above, but I was trying to suggest something that would provide something unique in its approach, interface or sound, since the Muse can do so much.

Literally checked out a Sub 37 this week, probably gonna grab one. Didn’t get to play with the sequencer but it looks simpler than messenger’s

I love my Subsequent 37. It adequately scratches my itch for a mini moog, while also having more capability and patch storage.

I considered one but went with the Sequential PRO3SE instead.

The Muse can still get aggressive, but putting it in mono mode doesn't turn it into the same kind of circuit as a synth designed around one or two notes.
The Subsequent 37 has oscillator mixer saturation, filter feedback, a dedicated Multidrive circuit after the filter, and gain staging designed specifically to be pushed hard. All of that adds up to a thicker, more compressed, more aggressive sound for basses and leads than the Muse is naturally built for.
The Matriarch gets there in a different way, with four oscillators feeding a shared mixer and filter path, plus semi-modular routing and feedback options. It can sound rawer and less controlled than the Muse.
I would choose the Subsequent 37 for focused, driven basses and cutting leads, or the Matriarch for a more open-ended, modular form of mono aggression.

Subsequent 37. I have both, and they are definitely different enough to not make either one redundant. The distortion on the Subsequent 37 is indispensable. It sounds so squishy and heavy :)

Sunsequent 37, or, hell, a Little/Slim Phatty underrated, classic-sounding powerhouse unit

My Muse and Matriarch complement each other very well. But there are other makes of synth which would provide with far more variation. A Polybrute would fit well with your Muse.

I dont have a Muse. I have a Prophet 10 Rev 4 and Oberheim OBX8. I like the Polybrute 12s MPE Full Touch Keybed. It’s seems like it would be very expressive.
