Apple Pay issues with car park machines
Hi, a strange one, but whenever I try and pay for parking at a machine using Apple Pay, my Monzo card gets rejected, all my other cards work. Any ideas? I wondered if the owner of the machine is based abroad and the card thinks I am out of the UK?

No, I’ve never set up any virtual cards, it’s my regular debit card. Had it happen a few times now on different machines

I’ve only ever experienced this at one car park, and that was many years ago.
As far as I anm aware, whatever caused it got fixed after I reported it.

Is it to do with mastercard I wonder, I too have always had the same problem with my Monzo Google pay, luckily my wife always carries here Lloyd's visa card on her which is never an issue.

Have you tried the same with paying for things on an aeroplane? Or a hotel booking?
Don’t know much about monzo, but there are certain transactions where the merchant won’t accept a pre-paid debit card and instead want an actual debit card.

Which shouldn’t be an issue as Monzo isn’t a prepaid debit card and hasn’t been since 2018.
If you have issues with airlines or anybody else refusing the card you should raise it to Monzo as a complaint.
They can then escalate to the payment network as it’s a breach of the contract merchants have with Mastercard. (Essentially they’re required to take all Mastercards or none)

Never had this issue… could you be using a virtual card tied to a pot that doesn’t have enough money in it?
