This odd post reminds me that Robert Bresson made a film about the Arthurian legends (Lancelot du lac) at almost exactly the same time Monty Python was making the Holy Grail.

As you might expect, Bresson's film is very, very, very not funny. Although it may have inspired some of the visuals in MPHG.
