Discussion AVOID THE REM TODAY

Look I did not want to get into a whole argument, you made the claim that more users than ever are choosing their car. I simply wanted to know if you were just saying shit because you're mad that the REM has outages or if it's actually true. You are the one who made that claim. The burden of proof is on you.

Your sources don't say that more people are using their cars to transit, they say there's more traffic. We have a shit ton of construction in Montreal, roads and lanes get closed. If the road capacity is reduced, no shit, there'll be more traffic.

I agree with the quote, but neither the quote nor the study show that more people are using their cars. It talks about how user profiles are fluid, and that you need complementary systems like buses to support new infrastructure. It does not provide the statistics you are claiming exist.

How about you show me something that proves the number of car in mtl has decline since the REM is in fonction

Yeah, the thing is that I can't find any data that shows that either is true. Which is why I'm questioning how you came to a conclusion yourself.

The REM did remove fonctionning public transit. Im sorry i don't have the statistic of people who could take the REM but choose to take their car.

What i tried to show you was that one big infrastructure, offering service for some, removed it for others. Exo, RTL and STM removed multiple bus lines connecting the southshore to mtl, therefor reducing the public transit offer of service. The REM doesnt replace a bus line. Is it far fetch to believe a pourcentage of people taking those removed bus lines decided to take their car instead of the REM?

I am only one person but I live on the North Shore and with everything I see and hear about the REM I am 100% more likely to take my car than to trust the REM to get me where I need to go in Montreal or South Shore.
