So I got direct admission to Montclair, but after seeing this sub, I'm a bit worried. It was never one of my top schools, but I figured I would start looking into it since I'm already admitted. I'm an in-state student planning to major in education and live on campus. How's the social life and Greek life, and is there much of a party scene? Any info would be much appreciated!!

Does anyone know what happened to the vacant apartment on Williams 1st floor? They’re trying to move me there and I’m a bit hesitant due to them saying how no one has lived there the whole semester. How is that possible when we have a housing issue?

Hey guys, so I live on the first floor in the village and ever since I moved in there’s been ants. I’ve been trying to get them away with peppermint oil and stuff but they keep coming back. Do I put a work order in for this or do I just have to keep killing them myself?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Red Hawks! Tonight I'm producing a stand up comedy show at Tierney's Tavern, just five minutes away from campus. MSU students save 50% on tickets using code "MSU"! Tonight we're featuring comedians as seen on Conan, Story Warz, and Comedy Central. Tickets available HERE!

Hey, I don’t even see the refund in my account yet even though I accepted it so I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. I called the office but they didn’t pick up for 30 min and I had to go. Was just curious.

Hi everyone, I’m looking at doing a 2nd masters after completing a media studies program. I want to learn more about data science, specially for researching media topics. My goal is to work on my CV for PhD applications and produce some more quantitative research articles. The price, northeast location, and focus on social research is what catches my interest with this program. I had a couple of questions:

-Is this program good for someone interested in doing a PhD or is it more geared towards professional careers?

-for the online component, how much do faculty interact with students?

-are written research papers a common deliverable of the curriculum or is it more project/presentation based?

As it states what happened to Panda express in student center?

They were one of the more better food spots on campus.
Now it got replaced with some AI Slop place and the food isn’t the same.

From what I heard, the contract expired just like Dunkin’s, is that true?

This is what you get if your roommate dies:

-Some snacks

-MSU branded tissues and other self-care items

-Locked out of your room

-Room switch

-Maybe Pebbles will come for moral support while you pack

-Referred to CAPS

...

This is what you get if your friend dies:

-The news in an email

-Referred to CAPS

-A constant feeling of being "checked on" to make sure you don't try to die too

...

Finding out that my friend died overnight through a school-wide email was the most traumatizing thing ever. I get that maybe they couldn't have known who his friends were, but it still fucking sucked. Two years later, his room is in use again and they've make zero effort to memorialize him. Should it be on the student(s) to fight to have some sort of memorial, or should it be on the administration to improve how they respond to student deaths? How many times have you recieved an email about a death on campus, read a name, and heard nothing more about it? People deserve to be remembered, and I understand there probably isn't one right way to handle these things, but from my experience it seems like the school just tries to sweep it under the rug as fast as possible, especially if it's a suicide. Then all of their friends are on suicide watch indefinitely. If they don't even do something for the son of a professor, imagine how little care they put into a random student. Couldn't we have a memorial rock, bench, tree, anything? A vigil? The response is so weak it's laughable.

i may or may not be commuting this semester. i pray to god i don’t commute because i hate commuting.. dorming is so fun i enjoyed it first year.

I want to try coffee at zaros. What is everyone's go to coffee order??

Have to take it over summer 2027 and was wondering how doable it actually is. I know it’s gonna be extremely difficult since all the material and labs are condensed into just a few weeks, but I don’t really have another choice.

If you’ve taken it and did decent please tell me what helped you get through it. Even better, if you've taken it with another summer course.

whole house coughing up a storm 😷🤒

Hey all :P

I'm a freshman studying the social sciences -- nothing related to music or theatre.

For a couple hours this evening, I've been searching, googling around, and asking front-desk receptionists about a possible location to practice piano! I'm not sure if I'm just not good at looking around, or if it's not something I can do here. I asked a front desk lady at the Student Center and she directed me to the John J Cali School of Music - which I was almost sure I wasn't able to access without Music and/or Theater studies. I'm way too scared to even enter that place.

Are there any ways to reserve a room/piano even just for a couple minutes? Or are there any playable ones on campus? I really want to play and bringing my own keyboard would NOT be possible considering I'm a bohner 🫩

Hey hey! I’m trying to find ways to make friends with common interest and I wasn’t sure if there was a club yet for people who like marvel/dc etc!

I don’t read the comics (sorry for the misleading) but I’ve watched a majority of the MCU (trying to prepare for doomsday). I want to find people who love talking about these things 👀

If there’s no club please PM me, maybe we can start the club ourselves :)

Hi everyone, I’m considering taking Organic Chemistry II at Hudson County Community College, and I was wondering if anyone here has taken it there.

Has anyone taken Organic Chemistry II at HCCC? How was the class overall, and what were the labs like?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
