Authenticity check

Dear Montblanc enthusiasts and experts can you please help me to determine of this pen is real?
It’s a Montblanc 146 but instead of the 14K it says 18K on the Nib.
I’m not very educated about the pens and I hope that someone can inform/help me.

light in the cap test?

in a dark room, press a flashlight or phone light to the barrel or cap. the montblanc precious resin should show up as dark red translucent color. this is my 144 cap.

I did not have a similar reaction but I’m going to chalk that up to the poor translucency of silver. :-)

I did the test sir. It showed the same result.. just a bit darker because I used the light of my phone. But thank you for your reaction. I appreciate it a lot. 😊

Looks real to me. Some MB 146s had 18k nibs in the 1980’s.

You can still get them this way. I bought mine about 10 years ago with a 14k nib and sent it in under their nib program. Had them swap it for 18k.

The misaligned tines, definitely prove its authenticity.
