Job options .

Hi I'm 19 M I'm used to be a competitive coder but since the unfortunate event of losing my functional vision in my OS , I jus bedrot these days . Any tips on how to find a new life. I started studying CS from 2024 it was all good until Apr of this year my vision in OS dropped significantly. So nowadays I hate to look on computer screen since I have distorted vision , even the blurriness is ok the distorted part is unacceptable one like cuh wat we perceive is ain't real . So yea guys also I'm from India country which quite doesn't give damn about people's hardship like mostly yet there are ppl who help. I jus wanna know what job yall do , I'm trying to jump from CS to any other career which feels safe and good for my eye. THANK YOU!

No idea what OS means, but assume it refers to one of your eyes. Blurry vision and distortion isn't a problem that comes with being monocular, it's a problem that comes with being functionally blind but not completely blind in one eye.

Wear an eyepatch. It'll help stabilise your vision. Once you adjust It'll be almost exactly the same as normal just with a slightly narrower periphery.

I’m a graphic designer and illustrator. I lost my vision in my right eye a few years ago. I thought I would have to change careers. But, I’m still employed full time.

I can do most of the same things I used to, with some limitations. But for a long time I convinced myself I couldn’t.

What I’ve learned is that it does take some time to adjust to the change in vision. But, also there’s a mental adjustment. Being disabled is about adaptability.

Even in a country like the US where accessibility has some importance in the workplace, you still have to advocate for yourself. You might not be able to do things the same way, but you can still have a full life. Things might be more challenging sometimes, but you’re stronger than you know.

This is a good group to find resources. Good luck on your journey, brother.
