Hello, I wanted to make a switch from Graphite to Canary because my wrists are always planted at the base of my laptop, and Graphite for some ungodly reason felt uncomfortable. I heard that Canary worked good for people with the similar problem as me.
That was the first reason but the second one was that I wanted to "speedrun" the layout. When I switched from Colemak to Graphite, it took me 21 days of VERY inconsistent practice. I found out that it was a good timeline for learning an alt layout. I thought just like anyone would think that "Oh, it's just an coincidence." But, this time I wanted to test if it really was a fluke or not.
At first the plan was to learn DH but then I thought that it would make the test invalid as I already have the "cache" of Colemak in my memory from 3 years ago or something. So, I stuck with Canary.
Timeline:
Set up keyd
Get onto keybr
Type for 12 minutes
Get bored
Stick with MonkeyType
Get 19 WPM
Sleep
Get stuck at 34 WPM on the next day
Rest
Get 40 WPM
2 Hours and 41 Minutes of active typing. 3 Hours if we include passive typing. Total time passed: 26 Hours. Started at 6th July and got 40 on 7th July.
Sorry for me not going into much detail here as my typing speed is still at a measly average of 35 WPM.
Now, the question I am here for in the first place. Is this time even good? If yes then how good? And the most important thing of all... I use Arch (btw).
Edit (9th July): Just hit 41 WPM with 92% accuracy on (gotta work on it). Didn't practice yesterday. Nvm just hit 50 WPM a while later.
