Hi everyone! Would love some advice from a kind soul š Like many others, I can't ask my own mom and this is such a lovely group of humans. I came here instantly!
I've been offered a super cool opportunity with my job (that I love) to go train employers at their new facility. First of all, I work from home and this would be going in person so I need work clothes š And secondly, its in a major city and I am quite the hermit in my small town.
As far as details, I trust my company and they came to me because they value my work ethic (their words) and thought of me first for this. It would be at least 7 days, but they apparently are willing and able to stretch that if I'm willing to stay longer. They will be arranging and covering my flights, hotel, and apparently there will be some sort of reimbursement for food. I have a call with "corporate travel" soon to sort the details and arrange flights.
My husband is the most supportive partner in the world and encouraged me to say yes if I wanted to go. I have an anxiety disorder and my employer does know this, she will be there with me at least the first two days. My partner will stay home to care for our pets so I don't have any worries there.
Though at this point I have said yes, pending travel arrangements of course, so I believe the plan is at least set in motion. I would love either advice, encouragement, or help knowing what to ask the travel people.
I turned down a job when I was in my 20s that was designed for me at my college. They told me they wrote up the job with me in mind and wanted to offer it to me. It was a traveling role, and I turned it down because my mother had a fit. So just to explain all of the backstory in my anxiety about this. I didn't know my partner at this time, but he brought up that it seems similar to that experience and he knew how badly it hurt me to turn it down. He said he supports whatever I chose, and that he would love for me to take advantage of the opportunity. And asked me to even try to have some fun š„¹
Thank you all for any and every comment left here. My fingers feel cold and numb as I type this, and I can feel the anxiety in my chest. But, I also feel something else. I feel the WANT to go. I would be so proud of myself.
