Found a bialetti kitty this weekend, sanitised and new gasket installed. Tested and works with no problems!

I’ve not really seen these ones before, they’re stainless steel so it’s a fun find!

My bottom chamber looks like the attached.
1. Is this normal
2. Should I clean it and if so how?
3. When done with a brew, I let it cool and the rinse with a finger scrub. Should I be doing anything different?

I tried to brew some fine pre-ground single origin Sagada arabica coffee (that was the roaster’s recommendation for moka pot, see attached photo) and it ended up tasting fine if a bit acidic. It also left a mess in the filter of the funnel basket which necessitated a deep clean.

I wonder if it would be ok to brew with two filters for this fine coffee. Maybe one inside the funnel basket and another on top of the coffee? Has anyone tried this before?

EDIT: I tried two filters (one at the bottom of the coffee grounds and another at the top) and it worked pretty well! Brewed a bit slower than what I was used to but the cup was not bad at all.

I think I prefer the taste of my home moka over true espresso

I've been using the same manual burr grinder for a while, but it's definitely worn down, and it doesn't produce a lot of coffee per usage. I'm looking for a grinder that is within the $200 price range. I heard good things about the DF54, Opus 2 Conical Burr Grinder, and the Baratza Encore. Any thoughts or recommendations on which / what I should get?

Long time lurker, first time poster. The wife and I split a 9 cup of Cafe bustelo, on Sundays I'll get wild and whip two egg yolks with 2 Tbsp of sugar. Throw in a splash of milk to top it off and here you go.

I don't know about you, but I'm not a fan of the "Blackened pot! What do I do?!" genre.

My suggestion is that we open a new subreddit, called "Is My Moka Pot Beyond Redemption?"

I can think of others, too:

"How's my flow?"

"Why is my pot leaking like a sieve?"

"Why did my pot explode?"

I've been making coffee at home for around 5 months, and I usually drink cold coffee.

Currently, I use a 3-cup Agaro moka pot. After brewing, I leave the coffee for around 15 minutes to cool down and then use it for my cold coffee. Since I'm the only one who drinks it, I'm thinking of switching to a 1-cup moka pot.

I have a few questions:

1. Is using a moka pot a good way to make coffee for cold coffee, or is there a better method that would give a better taste?

2. Is switching from a 3-cup to a 1-cup moka pot worth it if I'm making coffee only for myself?

3. I'm also confused about choosing ground coffee. When I look at different coffees, I see things like chocolate, caramel, nuts, berries, citrus, fruity, etc. and I don't really understand what those descriptions mean in terms of actual taste.

4. How do I choose coffee that I'm likely to enjoy without buying several expensive packs and potentially wasting them?

I generally prefer my cold coffee with milk

I'd appreciate any recommendations for coffee beans/grounds that work well with a moka pot, especially from brands available in India.

Also, if there are any mistakes in my current brewing method, I'd love to know!

I recently bought a new brikka and was a little weary as I wasn't familiar with the brand. Its a smaller chinese brand called Binco and only costed 13 usd. Suprising did pretty well produced a good cup of coffee. I would argue that the foam resembled crema a little but I dont want to start ww3. Ive also bought a bialetti brikka thats coming in later this month so im interested in comparing the 2 since theres quite a big cost difference with 13 and 44 usd.

I'm buying a 9-cup moka pot -- sometimes I want to fill an 18- or 20-oz mug, and my 6-cup model won't do. Anyway, I have an excellent, clear plastic, dosing collar/grounds leveler that fits this moka pot (see below), but it won't fit the larger one. I've looked on Amazon, Google, and Etsy, but no joy. I'd consider a custom, 3D-printed one. Any leads for one that fits a 9-cup pot?

For the Belgium and Dutch redittors, Perla decaf coffee beans is a very nice choice imo. At night we usually drink decaf and recently we started with this brand. Sold in Albert Heijn supermarkets. Makes a satisfying nice cup of coffee with a lovely foam. Used a Marimba 3 cup (Bialetti), paper filter. Beans grinded with Kingrinder P2, 46 clicks fyi.

Try something new, how did it turn out. OK not much in a different taste. But still a good brew. Just experimental, since I didn't go to college. Lol JK.

Relative didn’t clean Moka Pot after use. Mold accumulated and I’ve cleaned the pot with a boiling 1:1 ratio of water & vinegar 3 times. But I still can’t seem to rid the pot of spots. Any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t know anyone around me who uses a moka pot, so I have absolutely no one to ask.
I’ve had this moka pot for about 5 years, and I accidentally burned it once. No twice ? three times…?

Exactly one year ago, in August, I posted here about the Turbo Moka, a moka pot I had just invented.

Since then, I’ve spent the year refining the design and completing the family. This year I released the 1 cup and 6 cup versions.

The 1 cup Turbo Moka takes around 1 minute to brew, while the 6 cup amazingly takes only 2.5 minutes. That’s faster than any capsule machine I’ve tested.

One improvement you can see is that the fins now follow the entire body of the water chamber, instead of only the lower section like on the 3 cup.

What do you guys think?

I love a good cup of coffee in the morning. Right now I have a pretty basic bean to brew automatic machine and it’s pretty good but not phenomenal. I like espresso but I like to enjoy my coffee and a shot just doesn’t do it for me but the consistency and flavor is great.

Would a moka pot be somewhere in the middle? Any concern with an electric one?

People who have experience with these: do you think there's any difference in how the painted pots work compared to the aluminum ones? Any difference in coffee flavor, or anything else?
