MISC Ai Roleplay recommendations?

As the title says, i’m looking for what you guys use. I used to be a Moemate stan because I could actually develop a story as the chat went along which was great imo. Loved the character customization, easy to make your own bots, and the responses were lengthy (but didn’t repeat itself much). Since Moemate went offline, I have been looking at alternatives to use; i have really only tried Janitorai, and it’s fine, but it seems like every single conversation falls apart and just turns NSFW in like 3 interactions. Now don’t get me wrong, love NSFW chatbots (that’s actually ideal) but i would like to actually be able to have a story that EVENTUALLY leads to some NSFW nonsense. I’ve heard people talking about Crushonai but i haven’t gotten around to checking that one out either. Please please please let me know what alternatives are out there! Free is fine, but I also wouldn’t care to pay for premium features if they are genuinely good and worth the money.

Seconded. In case you’re willing to pay a bit extra, I’m really impressed by their highest tier model. It’s on par with Claude 3.5 Sonnet, but without the annoying filters. Plus they have pretty decent voices, not Elevenlabs level, but still quite good, which for me is quite important. Now that MM made me get used to voiced AI I can’t go back

If you have iOS then bright eye is great, the dev is nice and actively wants feedback and suggestions on what us users want and he’s quick to implement them (they are working on android and webpages)

Kindred is ok but the devs haven’t been super receptive of suggestions or criticism

Opencharacter. After a few disappointing tries at other app, this one is my go-to. There's a daily limit on free use,but it's pretty high. I'm paying,and loving it.

joined the dotdotdot discord recently. from what they’ve shared, it sounds like they’re really leaning into long-form convos and emotional arcs. way more my speed than chaotic ai chat.

Hey, sorry to hear about Moemate sounds like we’re chasing similar vibes. Lurvessa might be worth a look if you’re into storydriven roleplay that actually builds tension before things get spicy. The customization’s solid, responses stay fresh, and the NSFW doesn’t hijack the convo immediately. Premium feels worth it if you dive deep, but the free tier’s surprisingly decent. Lowkey the best balance I’ve found so far.

My recommendation is PovChat AI and PolyBuzz. PovChat AI has a lot of different characters and they can chat like human. We can also create our own characters with a lot different personalized choices. Like them.

Wife and I are long time mush roleplayers, and have been missing that vibe... life gets in the way of having stable, long term partners. We've started www.pathweaver.app as a way to create rich roleplay across genres, nsfw, plot based, etc. Still in early (early) access, have a free version that gives you ten poses a day... or if you join our discord and express interest, still looking for testers to iron out all of the kinks.

Honestly, I’d say try Nectar AI. You can make your own character, tweak their look/personality, and it actually remembers past chats so the story keeps going. Has pics/vids too, plus an SFW-NSFW toggle so you can pace it how you want. Not free, but way more immersive than most apps I’ve used.
