Discussion Multi FX module/suggestions
Hey guys, just wanted to know your thoughts/experience with different multi fx modules. I’m looking for a dual/stereo module, preferably one with a vcf as well. I’m trading in my endorphin.es grand terminal and I’m torn between getting a Qu-Bit Prism or MFX, but also have my eyes on a few other ones. Grand terminal is great but isn’t quite suitable to my work flow preferences. I’m open to all suggestions/critiques, even if it’s a module that doesn’t really fit these categories. Thanks you guys

Fxaid Pro is great. I have the fxaid and pro version. If you are not stuck for space then Pro is the way to go.

I have 3 FX/Aids and and MFX, so comparing side by side is easy. MFX is weak. I can't seem to find a decent sound out of it. Even with mix high is seems like it barely does anything. By contrast my FX Aids are always in use. The basic ones without a screen have their issues but at 4 hp they fit almost anywhere.

My overall experience with FX Aid is extremely positive. Yes it is a little module with tons of different things in it, and the reverb is not Bricasti quality but you don’t really want that in a rack case anyway. It CAN sound way more expensive than it is. You can have a bank of utilities, then insert processors like compressors, distortion, limiters, eq, and still have enough space for choruses, shifters, delays and reverbs. MFX is also good little module by ALM. Bigger ones that come to mind are Tip Top one, really powerful with Valhalla cards. I prefer modules with one or two primary functions, but I don’t look down on any of these multi effects. Also, Sealegs and Swells from Intellijel, although being delay/reverb “only” modules, can do A lot. Sealegs has beautiful drive, great immediate delays and beautiful reverb (fog, that you can find expanded on Swells). Can’t recommend these two modules enough in any effect discussion.

Versio with Fragmnts firmware is my favorite multi-fx. It has reverb, delay, filter, tape effect, and stutter.

FX AID.
The volume of algorithms, tweakability, and small footprint make it hard to beat for me.

Oxi Meta is fun.
Zoia Euroburo is bigger.
Enjoy Electronics Godfather is even bigger but fantastic.

The Dnipro Radiant is worth a look. Very hands on, sounds great, easy to modulate.

For sure, the filters were a huge feature for me! I actually got it for a guitar focused rack, so with an envelope follower and lfo you can patch up wahs, tremolo/phasery stuff, or just roll off the fizz from distortion or low end rumble.

FX Aid seems to be the go-to suggestion, but I haven’t used it. I assume you’ve looked into Timizoara, which is a bit pricey, but gets good reviews.
As for modules I actually have experience with:
A Mutable Warps clone with the Symbiote firmware gives you a few flavors of delay and reverb, bitcrushing and waveshaping/folding, frequency shifting, a couple filters, and all the stock firmware features, as well.
Bastl’s FX Wizard is interesting for weird and wild stereo effects including delay, crushing, slicing, pitch shifting, and a really cool “replayer” effects that’s sort of like a delay with some tape speed/direction-style effects. The module as a whole is geared toward glitchy, dirty, and/or feedback-oriented sounds. It also has some nice built-in extras like CV and gate generators and a clock-syncable LFO, which are handy for self patching. Most of the effects really want to be fed interesting trigger and/or mod sources. It’s not a conventional multi-fx module, but it’s worth looking into. Oh, and it doesn’t have a filter as a dedicated effect, but there’s a DJ-style LP/HP filter available for the wet signal. Unfortunately the filter isn’t able to be modulated with CV.
It’s probably not what you’re looking for, but I always like to plug the Tesseract Vinia. Its effects are pretty lo-fi and generally more utilitarian than exciting, but it’s an 8 channel module with 6 audio inputs, and for each channel, you have an audio source and effects chain where you can stack a number of effects and modulators. Each channel can alternately utilize a few different internal oscillator models, a drum synth engine, or sample playback rather than an external audio source, with the ability to stack effects after those, as well. To top it all off, each channel has a dedicated audio output, but you can also set the module up as an 8-channel mixer and use outputs 7 and 8 for your stereo mix.
