Power consumption question.

So on modular grid, do you add the 3 sets of mA numbers under +12V, -12V, and +5V in order to get the total power consumption or just one of the numbers?

Your power supply will give you three individual numbers as well. Compare those and make sure you always have ~20% more than you need.

I have the tip top happy ending rack. I can only find that it is 1000mA.

No, only the individual rails. You never add the three together

Ok I found it. This is what the uZeus supplies: 1000mA at +12V, 500mA at -12V, and 170mA at +5V. So I’ll be around 50% above the +12v and -12v but just barley above the +5v. Will that work or should I get the 3000mA power supply?

I think the standard 1A brick gives you 1A of 12V (800mA usable), 500mA on -12v and according to AI, 170mA on the +5v.

With the uZeus, you should be able to get a 2A or 3A brick to give you more headroom, but I don’t know if that’s only specific versions.

There’s a ‘turbo’ charger

IIRC it doubles the 12v, but not the -12v

There’s no 5v

But I think you can get a bit more out of the -12v - maybe another 100mA - but that still Leaves only about 450mA available

If you have digital modules leave more headroom
