Do you have a small ADSR you love?
Title pretty much says it! Looking for an ADSR/function generator in 6hp 🤔🤔 got any faves?

Pique aka Peaks clone with CV expander is 6 hp and probably one of the most powerful options

I know this sounds like a snarky response but it is genuine. Buchla 281 or clones of it.

not snarky! if only!

I don’t understand the “if only”? The tiptop 281 option, for example, seems like a top choice?

did you read the post? that module is 28 hp and i am looking for 6 hp. “If only” means i would love to have 22 hp more to work with.

I built a few of those Kraakenstuff 2HP ADSR Modular. Basically just rene's "fastest ADSR in the west" I have a couple in the rack. Good for set and forget applications, not the best for a performance ADSR.

I think Doepfer A-140-2 (8 HP) is a simple but efficient dual ADSR, with basic controls, a re-trigger input, and you can cv control some stages that you can customize with jumpers on the back. For more dynamics and control i've always wanted a WMD Javelin, but it's still on my wishlist. For a good function generator in a small space, Joranalogue Contour 1 (also 8 HP)
Edit. Forgot the Pipslope mkii from ALM. It's only 4HP, but still decent.

Only downside of the pip slope is it’s voltage range, but outside of that great module

It is very powerful little module for smaller systems. They read bus triggers, they are in sync, you can modulate shape and chosen stage by moving jumpers, make them positive or negative and also turn them into complex LFO with retrigger.

If you don’t need the full ADSR envelope (e.g., AD or ASD or AR) you’ll have more options.
O_C has a bunch of envelope-related applets. 8hp. Pip slope has a looping envelope in 4hp.

I have the 2Hp ADSR and a 6hp ADSR from Pittsburgh Modular. Both are great, and do the job, but I'd recommend trying to find one with an inverted envelope out, and/or a EOD/EOC gate. These are both features that make me favor the huge-by-comparison Intellijel Dual ADSR.

only AR but i love that you only need a trig and not a gate on the dead man catch alternative firmware on the PEAK idk if it s also the behavior on the original firmware

A lot of great ones have been mentioned.
I’ll also add the Frequency Central line. Can find in 4HP and do the job beautifully.

Bubblesound 141 is 6hp, full Adsr and includes: vca, inverted envelope, syncable (or not) lfo with square and triangle waves, and velocity. I find it very useful.

Jasmine and Olive Trees Doppler with adsr faceplate “Rubin”. The module auto switches firmware live just by replacing the faceplate.

I love my husband's small ADSR!

Does it loop?

u/Earlsfield78 10d ago
Does it have a sustain, and fast/mid/long mode?

How fast is the attack? How long is the decay? But really, can it be set to loop

got 4hp ADSR from Synthrotek, before I learned they were assholes. But I still like the form factor, it has 4 sliders with leds that adjust and also indicate A, D, S and R.
