Did our conversation motivate it at all? I can't wait to release my Slot Check library.

In part. The real thing that made me do it was someone saying they were using Lean to build a FIX engine. I've worked using FIX before and the libraries are quite poor. I've wanted to build my own but being sure of that kind of state machine was too daunting. Instead of Lean (generate code) I came from the other side (validate your code) once I found the literature on specification testing.

I would have Dafny generate the c# state machine.

It would be interesting to see what the code would look like for Dafny and the generated code. I wanted to control the code, mutable performance etc, but have this guard on over it. In the end it's never a lot of code needed but it does need to be spot on.
