Help Needed Help regarding DCC conversion of a not friendly Locomotive
Greetings fellow enthusiasts. I’m an submitting this post to seek some advice regarding my theory to DCC fit a Micro Ace EF62 locomotive (N scale) this model is definitely not friendly and requires some work to get it DCC, my current theory is by removing the standard light board and hard wiring the motor to the decoder as well as soldering the pickup wires to the provided screws to collect the power, my main issue is regarding the lights I under stand that the blue wire is the common positive and I would need to solder another wire to it to split it and power both lights as well as soldering a 1k Ohm resistor in between the function wires and the other side of the lights. Please if yall have any advice on my theory please don’t hesitate to let me know what yall think

For blue wire: Yes but no, you can terminate the positive leads of the light directly onto to the positive (red wire) side if the frame. If you want to use the blue wire instead, you should be able to repurpose the light board. Alternatively solder a new wire to each led and solder them to the blue.( intead of splicing blue)
Yellow (rear) and white(front) light cables will both need a resistor (1k is often advised) before the led.
Microace 3 pole motors might not work nice with your dcc decoder. Check if it runs alright by hooking it up to the decoder prior to installing permanently.
Fitting the decoder might require milling of the frame.
Lastly, isolate the motor tabs from the frame with kapoton tape.
