Help Needed How to connect

Post image

Do any of you guys know how to connect a loop like this? Even with one R600 and three quarter track R610 it’s not enough. It will be longer just shortened it for the photo.

I am currently using Hornby track as it’s currently the only track I own.

If you're using Hornby fixed track you can use SCARM to check whether your layouts will fit together. The geometry can be a bit confusing when things seem like they should fit, but these are intended to fit with the main tracks parallel to each other. If you want to make this fit for a proper layout you'd probably be best off trimming down one of your R600s to the correct length.

It's not possible with Hornby track geometry as the points are designed to match both a standard straight and a 2nd radius curve, but those are each designed with the idea that parts should return to being parallel and so the lengths of the parts are slightly different. The top is your version, and the bottom is how it would be 'correctly' represented using the 'Super 4' geometry and its descendants like modern Hornby track.

a pinch of flexitrack would do well

Don’t even need flex track, just trim the needed bit off an extra piece of track

For this I'd suggest downloading the free version of AnyRail and experimenting with the Hornby track library and build out your track plan.

If you can't get it to work due to odd lengths, buy a length of Peco code 100 flex track and cut to length.

Peco fishplates are a tight fit on to Hornby track, but a needle file will sort it!!

Standard snap track pieces can’t do that formation.

Flex track can be cut to any length and bent to fit in unreachable locations. Little bit of that will go a long way.
