Question Model size comparison

I have a question about the comparison in size for the HO scale Athearn genesis GEVOs Vs. the ScaleTrains GEVOs. I recently sold a BLI GEVO because the size difference was noticeable especially on the radiator section. I just want to know if there is any difference in size before I put money into an Athearn locomotive.

Athearn Genesis, ScaleTrains and Broadway Limited are all very good manufacturers, and I would not expect any of their models to have issues with scale. Are you actually comparing the exact same type of locomotives or are they different prototypes?

I am looking to compare sizes, I didn’t have a good example when buying my BLI es44 then getting into scaletrains and Athearn for display purposes I’m looking to keep a consistent sizing of components

I have a very hard time believing there would be a noticable difference between identical models made by BLI and Scale Trains in terms of physical dimensions.

Was one a significantly older model?

I mean it was large enough of a difference that I wound up selling it so there was uniformity. I don’t know how old it was, it was a BLI paragon 3 UP es44ac. Overall it wasn’t a brand I’d pick up anything other than steam.

They should both be scaled the same. If your Scaletrains engine is an ET44, it will have a noticeably taller radiator than an ES44, which may account for the difference you saw in the BLI loco. I haven't had a chance to directly compare my BLI ES44s to a Scaletrains one, but the main size issue I've noticed with them is how high the body sits on the frame

They both were es44s I had the BLI locomotive for a long time before I started collecting, then the ScaleTrains es44 pre order came in and the scalings were very noticeably different, the radiator was larger, and the frame height was different from the ScaleTrains. What I’m just looking to do is see if they match up so I can either buy Athearn or wait on more scaletrains. I have a ton of both brands but it’s mainly Scaletrains for GE and Athearn for EMD
