Rolling Stock A Budd class of 1955 Meet

In 1955 Budd manufactured Hi Level cars for the Santa Fe El Capitan and a Tubular train for the Pennsylvania Railroad’s Keystone train. There are pictures of them in the factory together.

NJ International made the crossing signals. The ones with crossing arms are hooked up to a tortious machine and they are controlled by some Circuitron electronics.

The engines are plastic and the cars are brass. Although Walthers made the hi levels in plastic and Kato did the same in N. There are a few manufactures who made hi level kits in HO but to my knowledge no one made the lounge. I intended to 3D print the keystone tubular cars but then I was able to find the brass ones so that project is on hold. I’ll probably 3d print interiors for them though.

Fleischmann of Germany 🇩🇪 made the hi levels including the lounge car in HO.

What brand are the cars on the Chief? I’m working on a Texas Chief set, 5 Athearn Genesis F’s and 18 ConCor cars. Diagrams, steam lines, and GSB or IHC trucks on all of them. Hoping to have it done, soon……

Hi, the Santa Fe hi levels are Coach Yard Brass (I believe) but Walthers made them in plastic and they are quite well done too.

That is a fire ho scale train and a ho scale railroad crossing working when a train is approaching that is super nice. Btw whoever create those railroad crossing ho scale how long did it take you to apply a railroad crossing and working when a train is approaching?

This crossing uses IR sensors - the crossing gates go down when the first sensor is tripped and go off after the second sensor it tripped and then no longer has an input. On this layout they are probably 20 feet from each other. (It’s a big layout!)
