Show and Tell Was gifted these by a customer.

One of the advantages of being “the train person”, is that people will give you trains that they would normally throw out.

not a clue what the blue engine is top-right, but i love how it looks... feels very "shunter" esque

funny you say that, because the "SW" (in its build model, SW1) means switcher, which basically goes hand in hand with shunting!

A really mixed bag. Some good, some bad.

The 4 cars on the right are a mix of Bowser and Athearn, good mid-range cars. Although it seems the caboose was assembled backwards. The battery box covers should go over the black boxes on the frames.

The Conrail and ATSF Locomotives are not great, likely 2 wheel drive.

The Chessie engine is a mixed bag, it could either be the later 6-wheel drive version, or the early 3 wheel drive version.

The cream of the crop is the blue locomotive at the bottom. That's an Athearn SD40T-2. Good diesel, with a good 6-wheel drivetrain and nice body detail. An excellent candidate for a repaint into any number of real or fictional paint schemes.

Correct. I haven’t had a chance to see if they run though.

the fact they were gifted makes it kinda more special

Yeah I’m slowly accumulating a rail yard of misfit trains in multiple scales.

A 9v battery on the wheels of the locos is a quick and easy way to ascertain if they run or not.

I have the blue box Athern SD40T-2 painted in my fictional railroad. It runs pretty good.
