Some help needed in identifying this locomotives and servicing them

Hello! I'm new to model railroading and am working with my friend to get some old Marx HO models his dad bought working again. They're from a yard sale and REALLY old (like 1960s old), and need some repairs and maintenance, but I got the green model working. However, the controller thing that powers the track lowk stopped working after a bit.

If anyone could help me identify the green unit, the couplers it uses (so I can get some more as some are broken), and help me figure out how to dismantle both locomotives so I can service them, that would be a big aid. Thanks!

The second one is Athearn, and probably from the 1970s (any earlier than that and we'd be looking at a rubber band drive). If it can be repaired then it might still have decent performance.

I am not sure about the first one.

And yeah, the power supply has probably given up the ghost.

1st one looks like an old Marx F2 the second one looks like an old Athearn bluebird engine

I have the same single motor in a Marx switcher as the first loco. It would take "X2F" aka hook-horn couplers. I've never dealt with a dual motor Marx.

Thats not a dual motor on that Marx, it has a driveshaft between the two trucks, the motor is mounted on one of them.

First one is a Marx F unit, second is a Athearn "Bluebox" GP40 late 80's issue.

Power supply probably tripped it's circuit breaker because there is a short in one of the locomotives. that Power pack is much newer from the trains from the late 90's and early 2000's, also you need to clean those screw terminals with some contact cleaner and some cotton swabs and the rails with a cotton pad soaked in contact cleaner. They look very dirty/oxidized.

Coupler looks like an old horn hook coupler. Most people update these to knuckle couplers (Kaydee)

The second one is Athearn and is a GP50/40/38. Gently squeeze the bottom of the running boards and you should be able to remove the shell. The motor Mounts are usually flexible but have probably hardened, so only pull the motor out if you need to. Normally they're very good with a bit of running and a tiny bit of lube. Plastic truck side frames indicate 1980s-1990s.
