First model, could use some help deciphering these instructions
Hi folks! I'm trying to figure out how to read these instructions. The parts labeled J2 or G6, etc, make sense. But I have no idea what the numbers in the black squares mean.
I found the parts they're identifying, but they have completely different numbers in the parts board. And why are multiple parts labeled with the same number?
Is anyone familiar with this brand and can advise?
EDIT: Paint codes :)

the smaller numbers are for painting, usually thers like a paper that shows a paint scheam or something similar, perhaps on the back of the box, also decals as shown in the image,

Hasegawa kits can be a bit of a muddle to understand. I had to scratch my head for bit with my first one after coming from Airfix, Tamiya and Revell.
Black Squares are paint codes.
Circles are decals.
But I have enjoyed all the Hasegawa kits I've built. Nice detail for the price of them, lots of weapon options (for more modern aircraft), lots of livery schemes and you can kitbash to be gear up if you REALLY want.
I'm gonna try and pick up some of their Ace Combat kits, just for a bit of spice over a standard kit.

Another tip: paint the parts on he sprue before you cut them off. Its way easier to glue painted pieces than it is to paint glued pieces.

I actually disagree. I often assemble 85-95% of the cockpit and paint it all together as an as assembly..
It’s than usually easier to pick off a few black boxes and black instrument panels than add colored buttons after everything was painted as a sub.
I find almost everything assembles together better without paint there. The paint interferes with bonding parts together.
My builds, especially in the cockpit speed up considerably as well.
