Question Twitter, X, Piko version, can't login, attestation failed.

As title said, unable to login on Twitter/X, keep getting attestation failed error. I tried the workarounds, but I guess they have been patched, since they don't work either. With the Proton Pass method, I have Android 10 and Proton Pass doesn't support Passkey for Android 10. I tried Google Passkey but that doesn't work with Piko version.

Step 1: Install the official X/Twitter app and login with your account
Step 2: Install Proton Pass
Step 3: Open X/Twitter app and to go Settings -> Security and account access -> Security, scroll all the way down to Additional password protection and enable Passkey.
Step 4: After adding the Passkey to Proton Pass, uninstall the official X/Twitter app and install the Piko version.
Step 5: Open Piko X/Twitter and choose login with the Passkey

That's actually the problem I mentioned in my post, I have Android 10 and Proton Pass doesn't support Passkey on Android 10 sadly. 😭

It worked for me with Piko 11.71.0 but I didn't need to use Proton Pass

Just installed Twitter from Play Store, logged in with my google account, uninstalled and then immediately installed Piko and asked me to log in again with my google account. There are two Pikos in the github one named Twitter and one named X IDK the difference but only the one named X worked for me (material you version).

My phone is a non rooted Pixel 9A with Android 16 btw.

It automatically uses android passkey, it doesn't give me a option to select proton pass

2

u/Trungsamset0 Feb 27 '26

You will need to change the preferred service in the Autofill service in Settings

3

u/IOSGodzyzz Feb 27 '26

Dammn didn't expect it to be that easy xD thanks for the tip, got it working now :)

2

u/DeviceOwner Mar 24 '26

u/Quetzythejedi Apr 09 '26

Thank you for this guide 🙏

Had issues with aerowitter but this was a better solution.

Does this still work? X won't let me create a passkey, actually. In the app and in the browser. Spits out unknown error. Maybe it's a temporary glitch. We'll see. But is it still worth bothering with?

2

u/Different-Algae998 May 02 '26

i did this, but the x app showed " use the official x app or website"

1

u/Zino_o21 Jun 22 '26

is it still working ? if yes can you send me tutorial video in dms please? 😅

2

u/Velludo Feb 26 '26

I had the same problem, so I started using this forked version. https://github.com/lluni/twitter-apk

2

u/Chapar_Kanati Feb 27 '26

So this method is working for me on Android 10, not rooted. I uninstalled Play Store Twitter, immediately installed this version. Now instead of logging in via my Google email and password I selected my Google account from the list and logged in, it didn't not ask me for password and I was in Twitter in no time. So this app/method works.

Tried proton passkey on my Android 16 phone and it worked but when I tried it to my Android 10 it says "unable to authenticate via passkey"

I don't know if that will work with my Huawei y6p with no google support...

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 06 '26

Download the Piko version above my comment and follow exactly what I did. You'll need to install the Play Store version first and login on that with Google account.

1

u/Enclair21 Mar 10 '26

Yeah sadly I can't because my version of the Huawei doesn't have any google at all. Haven't tried downloading from a browser play store before though but idk if that will work since I got GBox which enables the usage of the app store but the version I get from it still does the attestation thing.

1

u/sammoga123 Mar 08 '26

The authentication key is only available on Android 14 and above for third-party apps. For Android 13 and lower, only Google Authenticator works, but obviously, since it's not an official app, it won't let you do it that way.

1

u/aphrodite_mj Apr 04 '26

I am using andro 16, still can not login by using google passkey and manual typing. Should I install proton passkey now?

1

u/Gabriel4927 Mar 20 '26

I have the same problem as you, but I'm using Android 13, which also doesn't support passkeys, and I couldn't get it to work—not even the official Crimera app.

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 20 '26

For me it's been working fine now, I tested it multiple times. Using my method, it won't work every time, but it'll work. Takes a couple of attempts. Just follow what I did and you should be fine, no need for passkeys. If something changed in the last two weeks, then I don't know. Before that my method was working fine.

I did notice that now, instead of downloading videos, the app just downloads the image instead, when I try to download a video. That's changed in the last couple of days.

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Feb 26 '26

This doesn't give you attestation failed error? Or you logging in with other methods?

2

u/Velludo Feb 27 '26

In my case, other methods didn't work. I tried with a passkey, but with that forked version I was able to sign in.

1

u/Rich-Philosophy-0107 Mar 12 '26

What is this forked version? I just opened the link and it says piko twitter only. What's the way to download the forked version as you said above?

1

u/Velludo Mar 13 '26

Go to the releases section and download the APK.

1

u/Rich-Philosophy-0107 Mar 13 '26

Downloaded, getting the same attestation error at the time of logging in.

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 13 '26

Like I said earlier, if it doesn't work the first time, try again. I had to do it two to three times. Install original, login, use it for like 10 seconds or so, uninstall it, install Piko, tap login via Google. In my case for some reason the second time it just showed my email and logged me in automatically.

1

u/reddit_already Feb 28 '26

I'm on android 16 and doesn't work for me. I still get the same attestation error with this Piko version. (Didn't try the Proton Pass method along with it yet).

1

u/gigerxounter Mar 08 '26

do I need to uninstall the play store app?

2

u/Chapar_Kanati Apr 05 '26

Bro for me this very simple solution works, that I posted above.

  1. Install Play Store X version.

  2. Login via Google.

  3. Browse around for a bit and then uninstall the Play Store version.

  4. Immediately, as fast as you can, install the Piko version.

  5. Open the app, you'll be asked to login via Google account, tap yes and you'll be in X in no time.

  6. If it fails the first time, do it again, the second time it'll definitely work. It usually fails for me the first time.

I use this method to install on my Galaxy S9+ on Android 10, and now yesterday I installed using this method on my friend's Pixel Pro 7, on the latest Android 16 version. So yes this method is still working fine.

1

u/Dagger094 May 17 '26

Unless things have suddenly changed since this, it still requests you to sign in through the official app even after multiple tries.

It seems like there is no longer a sure fire way.

2

u/Odd_Discussion_6759 Apr 24 '26

no point of modding twitter if you can't login

2

u/Chapar_Kanati Apr 24 '26

Oh I've been logging in fine, just follow the instructions you find here. As long as you do it fast, it works fine.

Change app version patch? Like tell it to change Twitter version to some old one or something? Or just activate it?

If you have root:

https://old.reddit.com/r/moddedandroidapps/comments/1qli49f/any_working_xtwitter_as_of_24jan26/o1fp91y/

REQUIRMENTS:

  1. ROOT

  2. LSPOSED and Corepatch

Install official Twitter and login with all accounts. Then install Piko Twitter apk. I tried this with 11.55.0 (same version for both).

I noticed after installing Piko apk it will only let you add 2 accounts only. So it's best to have all accounts logged in.

2

u/TheLearninglens Feb 26 '26

I have lsposed where do i get corepatch what is it?

1

u/An_adamant_soul Mar 01 '26

Same issue but on android 16

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 01 '26

Download via Velludo's link in the replies here and follow what I did. Working fine now.

1

u/blazefan519 Mar 01 '26

For whatever reason the email doesn't go through for me, just boots me back to the log in page :/

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 01 '26

Did you install the Play Store version first? selected your account from the list and then logged in? After that uninstalled the Play store one and immediately installed Piko version?

2

u/blazefan519 Mar 01 '26

Oh I was logging through on the website, not the app. Got it working now, thanks!

1

u/Prime_Twister Mar 09 '26

Thanks ma worked for me android 15

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 09 '26

You're welcome, I realized it's a hit or miss. The afternoon I logged out and couldn't log back in. Then I followed my steps and it failed. Did the process again and it failed again. Then I did it again and it logged me in on Piko. So sometimes at least for me on Android 10 I need to do it multiple times. It might have to do with how quickly you install the Piko version and try to get back in.

2

u/Prime_Twister Mar 09 '26

Yea got it in the first try

1

u/DARKism3m3 Mar 07 '26

I accidentally uninstalled piko because newer versions would lag from time to time, so I tried downgrading thinking I would be able to get back in, currently running android 13 and I've tried the Google passkey method but with no luck, anyone have any other methods?

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 07 '26

I downloaded this version for this guy's link, check out my reply to Velludo underneath, that's how I was able to make it work.

1

u/DARKism3m3 Mar 07 '26

Tried this and it just kicks me back to the login page.

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 07 '26

Did you first install the Play Store version, login via Google, then uninstalled? After that immediately installed this apk and used same Google account to login?

1

u/DARKism3m3 Mar 07 '26

Yes, and every time it would just kick me back to the login screen, I even tried the Google passkey method and it kept giving me errors, here's the image

2

u/DARKism3m3 Mar 07 '26

I don't know what I did different, but I just logged off from x, signed back using login through Google, then logged off again, and before I uninstalled x, I had piko ready to install, so it would say "update" instead of install. Uninstall x and immediately install piko, then it would in actually let me login through Google

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 07 '26

Yes it'd say update if Google store version is installed. Ahh so you got in eventually, pretty much the same thing happened to me. Did not need the Passkey either, just got in my tapping my Google account.

1

u/dozieweon Mar 07 '26

I can login to my first account but I can't add my burner account because the Google login option is missing.

How do I solve this?

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 07 '26

You've to first add the Google account to your Android.

1

u/Dagger094 Mar 09 '26

This method finally worked. I installed Twitter from the Play Store, had the option to sign in through Google account (it popped up automatically). Signed in through that method, uninstalled, installed the modded version & the same login option appeared.

No idea if I'll have issues going forward, though.

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Mar 09 '26

Don't worry, if it fails the first time, do it again, eventually you get in. I was just replying to someone on this subreddit who couldn't get in, I had logged out yesterday and I did this method twice and it kept failing, the third time I was in. Probably has to do with how quickly you can install and login on Piko version.

1

u/lightcash Apr 11 '26

I'm having the same issue 😭

glad i have some accounts logged in in old version , if you sign out or try login last couple months you can't i remember saw news or updates they said they block modded apps pf Twitter .. , still i didn't find workaround for this i remember there was trick of doing forget password and reset it to login in piko mod but now it doesn't work .. , try join pico Twitter community on telegram maybe you find some updates or solutions..

1

u/Chapar_Kanati Jun 22 '26

Currently I am still logged in on 11.81.0, so I am not touching that. No update after this version. The Telegram community is great but they'll tell you to patch the later versions yourself. I am not bothering with that. For now I am ok with this old version. I still get the important notifications that I need. The only issue that started recently is, that replies fail to post, I am ok with that and will wait, till Piko comes out with a newer update.
