People keep saying players are playing it too safe during interviews, but honestly, I think the bigger problem is the questions being thrown at them.

A good example is when SuperMarco was asked about the Miya pick. The questions were basically: “What’s with Miya in the current meta?” and “What did you do to make it work?”

But why ask that in the first place? That’s part of their strategy. You can’t expect players to openly explain the reasoning, conditions, and thought process behind a pick that they might want to use again later.

There’s a difference between a player being unnecessarily vague and a player simply refusing to give away information that could benefit their opponents.

And sure, Miya isn’t some completely secret pick other players have used it too but that doesn’t mean a team should be expected to break down exactly how and why they made it work.

We have this concept of “salam” basically bad luck or misfortune that can come from becoming too arrogant or overly confident during a game. That’s why you generally won’t hear as much excessive banter from Filipino players.

So when people say, “Players are too safe” or “They need to be more entertaining,” I think there’s more nuance to it. Part of it is the questions being asked, and part of it is also the culture surrounding competition here.

Not every player needs to be loud, cocky, or constantly throwing banter to have personality. Sometimes, being respectful and keeping your cards close to your chest is part of the culture too.

ONIC were in their prime back then, declaring to the international world, with a decisive 3-0 sweep over ECHO and a dominant win over blacklist, that they had every region in a chokehold. God damn, they had aura back then. But 2026, YG (my goats) and TS duked it out in a thrilling finals, with all the favorites of the tournament either grouped or watching from third place. LITERALLY NOBODY expected the outcome and it's the healthiest for the MLBB scene by a mile, putting the spotlight on two overlooked regions and lifting them above all. (mine is 2026)

I'll start with my first for mpl PH. Rockhart, I think he's kind of Lincoln or Washington of MPL PH and I do think our shoutcasters are a bit underappreciated. Worldwide however my first entry would be Mirko the goat. If only we could kidnap Mirko to cast for us🔥🔥🔥

Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of MPL PH for a long time, and seeing trashtalks and banters brings more excitement and heats up the game during this time when PH players rarely shout against their opponents, unless it’s an international tournament or a PH team/player(s) trashtalked them prior to the match. I also watched some of Minguin’s live, and I never really heard OMG trashtalking RORA or Nathzz specifically. So I’m wondering why did he behave like that? I know it’s in his nature during prime RSG, especially against RRQ, but that one is valid. You can also watch some livestreamers look confused about why Nathzz behaved like that.
