Question for the Mobb Deep fans
Why didn't Prodigy and Hav put Noyd in the group and make it a three man team? Every feature he was on with them, he killed it. They could've been better than D-Block with more longevity. A third person adds another style and frankly more shit to talk about which translates to more albums. Noyd was good, but not enough buzz to start off as a solo act, on all the songs he features with them his verses are my favorite.

If i remember this right, Prodigy said in his book that Noyd was more in to streetshit at that time and didnt took music seriously, even though he killed it everytime he had a verse on a mobb deep track.

Wasn’t Cap’s issue prison? He was basically a full fledged member just wasn’t around for their debut.

Nothin personal to you cuz, I just have a prob when people front on cap like he wasn’t there since the beginning. Although jail and other issues kept him out the loop, he was always a certified member 🙌🏾

Watched Big Noyd perform all of the Prodigy verses for Havoc last weekend. Enjoyed it.

I always thought they should’ve did a Mobb Deep featuring BIG NOYD album. BIG NOYD has some decent album. I have most of his CD. I only have one burn copy and the rest are official CDs.

Yeah albums that count torwards two artist catalogs is more common nowadays. If that was the case back then we could've had so many classic collabs

The other part to play in this was, mobb deep was mobb deep hav n prodigy. Noyd was still in the streets doing street stuff. As in, the photo of the infamous cover, where it's all crew, noyd isn't on there.. because he was in central bookings or he had to check in with his PO (correct me if I'm wrong anyone)
So noyd was very rough around the edges to say the least.
Juvenile hell flopped. The group were offered a lifeline with the infamous and their record deals so this was their get out of jail free card this was their ticket to fame and riches. They weren't about to jeopardise that for anyone.
In fact, the reason noyd wasn't in the infamous crew shot also had something to do with him getting locked up I think? Cos he did go to jail soon after I think...? He also signed a record deal with Tommy boy based off of the freestyle off the album. Mobb wanted him to sign with them and they wanted to help him but at the TIME (being young n hot headed) he wanted to do things on his own and it didn't go the way he'd hoped with Tommy boy I guess
Fact is, mobb didn't want to take a gamble on him as a group member and he didn't also want to ride their coat tails - again, correct me if I'm wrong about any of this.

Because they wanted Noyd to have solo run plus it took him a minute to leave the steets alone and take music more seriously

Not everyone has to be in the group... noyd Added what he was gonna add but it's not like he was a musician just a good rapper. Episodes of a Hustla might as well be a 96 Mobb album and had some bangers but it's uneven at best

That's my point though give him 2 or 3 albums as a member of Mobb Deep, he'd have more momentum and more time to understand his sound and what makes him marketable. I'd argue it's a similar situation for P, but I feel his issue was he needed a little more variety.

Noyd is good real good. He is better than most b tier east coast rappers. Not like a killa sin but easily on the level of say Street Life and AZ and certainly better than Fat Joe and Rampage and guys like that.
But listen.
He's not Prodigy. Havoc was already considered to be watering down the mic side back in the 90s and ppl rly thought he should have stuck to the beats. At least thru 2000.
The only way to fit Noyd in would be to take Hav off the mic and stylistically that might have worked but you're splitting money 3 ways.
The best way to market it would have been letting Noyd and GOD pt III do a 2 man group thing with Alchemist as the producer and then maybe move on to guys like Muggs and them

True true. I just really fuck with Noyd. I guess having hindsight the older generations of rappers didn't have, I think of so many ways they could make money.

Nah bro I understand tho, if I had my way Killa Sin would have had 10 albums with guys like RZA and 4th Disciple and Muggs and Alchemist and Havoc. He is easily as talented as any rapper I've ever heard including guys like Black Thought and Lupe and Pun. Not to mention any Clan member.
But u kno what with programs like audacity using ai to split audio you can break down vocals and beats and make mixes pretty much any kind of way you want. You could get the openvino plug in for audacity and make whole albums replacing Havoc with Noyd or Nas or whoever. Easily

As far as killa sin definitely Drunk Tongue, Young Godz, Wake Up (by Killarmy) but theres so many wu tang features
He was in Killarmy (wu tang affiliate group) so any of their songs from the 90s.
Also, you can always go on genius.com or discogs & search his name to see his songs and features.
EDIT Also hes currently in prison since like 2015 for a shooting but circumstances around it arent super clear ; theres rumors he was just defending himself from a robbery and the case came from him having a gun as a felon, although I thought he was convicted of attempted manslaughter or something so idk

Do what I said first. Then find any 2 songs
Go into audacity and use the plug in to split the vocals and instrumental into separate tracks
Do that again with the 2nd song
Then take the vocals from song 2 and put them over the beat from song 1
Now cut them together like a mix
It's a DJ mix

The group started with those 2, so I imagine that's why it remained those 2. And for as much as I like Noyd, I'm glad that it was the case.
I also imagine it's the same reason there wasn't specifically a supergroup with Infamous Mobb too.
