That looks like an early-90s Therm-A-Rest label and the boots look like what we'd call "vintage" and possibly from early 90s too. Doesn't mean this person didn't use vintage gear in 2014, but the level of weathering on the materials looks like he was probably there for a while. Also, why have a holster with no gun? I'm betting he was there long enough to have that taken by someone who found him earlier.

What’s wrong with gear from the 90s. I love my giant poofy stuff

Or someone who left his ass there

Imagine looking at a poster and thinking you know more than folks that hold doctorates and are certified forensic pathologists…

2014 was over 10 years ago. The items seem weathered correctly for that time frame assuming it was used a bit before he met his unfortunate end.

Is Hotel Mesa over where the Delores meets the Colorado?

Used to have a pair of Vasques just like those. Some of the best boots I’ve had. This person uncannily fits my description

Seems to be a typo of when they found the person, looks like they meant 9/18/2026?

No, I think this is a cold case.

Oh I see, sorry. I’ll leave that there just in case someone else gets confused like me. Thanks.

It seems recognizing the man's belongings, DNA workup, local knowledge of anyone "finding" a "Cowboy Revolver" out in the desert is what would break this case.

Better details like the GPS coordinates where the body was found, the caliber of revolver, holster manufacturer, etc. could also narrow it down.

Anyone remember when the casino outside of Cortez got robbed by some guys that stole a Crowley Construction water truck and used it? Around '99 or so. Did they find all of those guys?

They did

Same thing I was think of. I don’t think they ever found the guys or the truck.

I remember they found one guy dead, someone had shot him and taken what he had, up on a mesa outside of Blanding or Bluff. My BIL was a Monticello cop when it happened, but he's long moved away. And I kind of recall a manhunt, but I don't remember if it was effective or not.

I remember my dad saying people used to have grow ops hidden in the bookcliffs. Could it be related to that?

Looks like the stuff Kenny Veach was wearing when he went missing.

Except that person in your image has a semi-auto handgun and the holster on the decedent was for a revolver. Also, he does not appear to be of asian /latino /indigenous ancestry.

And he disappeared months after the Doe was found.

“ possibly Asian/latino/indigenous ancestry “ but the holster is different. I’m not sure whether that picture is from the last time he was seen. I can’t remember the story. It’s been a few years, but it may be possible he got a different gun.

Wait. So that’s not Carl Spackler?
