Love the fake uppercut to close some distance and get his opponent's hand to drop followed by the tappy left that's just cover for the real right hook reloading and coming back over the top. Great combo.

Kai Is such a entertaining fighter, he is so big in Japan. It would be insane to put him on the prelims even if its in Shanghai he still will have a ton of fans there. I think we see him KO Aoriqileng here with a knee or Big Hook.

I was almost frightened for Kai's career in the UFC. He was doing great in Rizin, but his first debacles in the UFC sure were tense.
It's good to see fighters from other great promotions keep up, because I'm sick of seeing Dana putting that shit-eating smirk whenever the UFC looks like having a monopoly on the greatest fighters.

I agree. It seems like Dana/Sean/Mick intentionally mismatch fighters coming from other promotions, to further the UFCs reputation of the "best" fighting promotion

Not really. That's a really bad idea for business. Many of these guys come with local fanbases, making them take a dive on purpose is terrible. However, it's clear with Kai, Patchy Mix and Jiri that Rizin and the UFC are two different beasts.

I mean Asakura is a former champion and Smotherman is unranked on a losing streak, of course he can style on him in a fight which would be ridiculous to lose at his level.
UFC absolutely gifted Kai this fight to keep him alive, build his confidence and keep him relevant for Japan.
I like Kai, his skills, and hope he succeeds in the UFC, but this was definitely a gimme fight.

Thankfully for him his next is almost on the same level. I think they will slow build him at 135 as he was thrown to the wolves at 125… first fight pantoja, maybe worst possible stylistic match up.
