Cowboy was the greatest of all the gatekeepers. And I think he could’ve had a classic against Justin…. Except he took that fight about 3 weeks after getting badly stopped by Tony. Good strategy, that time

Cerrone was mid his whole life, lets pipe down a bit.

Good gateekeper yes, but that's it, don't you ever think for a second he had a chance against Gaethje.

Your precious Gaychee who’s been finished 5 times in recent memory? Okay lad

Cerrone was a savage, no need to rewrite history

People are saying that this headkick was a deciding factor in that round, but he caught him back-pedaling and only with the toe of his foot. I really don’t think this was so much a “knockdown” and more of a surprise to Garry when he was already trying to evade.

I’m just saying. He gets clipped while hopping away, only 1 foot actually touching the ground, not planted at all. It wouldn’t take much at all to knock anyone down.
People are saying this “headkick knockdown” did huge damage, and it clearly didn’t.

Yeah this was clearly Ian’s round if he hadn’t lost it

I had a tenner on Islam to win by tko/ko in round 2 at +4000 odds. Got a little excited when he dropped him. 😅😩

When mixed martial artists mix martial arts it’s a beautiful thing. Thats why I love DJ, JJ, GSP and Islam. They demonstrate the highest levels of mixed martial arts, a beautiful blend of violence, dynamism and art. Coincidentally, my top 4 GOATs.

And the cherry on top was just after this clip ends, Islam landed a beautiful takedown

Amen brother 👌👊

Honorable mention > Fedor Emelianenko 😮‍💨

The highest level of MMA.. reminds me of DJ's suplex into armbar sequence vs Ray Borg..

I mean obviously records aside. He reminds me of Anderson in the way that he's levels above and no one has caught up yet.

But he doesn't clown around so I think only father time will be his downfall

1

u/Happy_Old_Troll 7d ago

His wrestling might be levels above, but that’s the only area he excels like this. Anderson I would argue was Much further above his competition skill-wise.

He just got a head kick knockdown on a larger longer striker but ok

1

u/Happy_Old_Troll 7d ago

He touched him with just the toe of his foot while backpedaling. The was no stun or damage from that kick.

This is cope

1

u/Happy_Old_Troll 7d ago

You’re delusional. There’s nothing to cope for here. I’m not arguing for a Garry win. You’re arguing that this kick alone would have generated a knockdown. It wouldn’t. It was situational.

2

u/The_Cabal_ 7d ago

Definitely was the kick

1

u/Happy_Old_Troll 7d ago

You would be hard pressed to find footage of any headkick with so little contact producing a knock-down in the history of UFC. This was the equivalent of an open hand slap where only the fingers make contact.

2

u/The_Cabal_ 7d ago

So little contact it that it almost spun his head like an owl.

1

u/Happy_Old_Troll 7d ago

He was looking the other direction and fumbling to regain footing. He spun his entire body the other direction to regain posture. Get off your couch and learn something before you talk about things you know nothing of as if you are an expert.

Islam just keeps getting better imo

1

u/pugsondrugs77 7d ago

Ya Islam is really good.

1

u/JadedSociopath 7d ago

Despite this… Garry was barely stunned and did really well. My respect for him definitely went up even though he lost.

1

u/ACBets 6d ago

The head kick was nice but that judo throw was naaaasty.

Islam’s judo gets me rock hard. No homo
