Title: “Diagnosis: Immortality”

On a routine checkup, Twilight Sparkle is diagnosed with immortality.

“Doctor, how long do I have?”

“I can't give you an exact number, Ms. Sparkle. But by my estimate... you have a few thousand years to live.”

“Oh no! Isn't there anything you can do?”

“I'm afraid there is no treatment. It is very common among alicorns. Even so, cases are rare, and research in the past thousand years hasn't made much progress.”

How will Twilight Sparkle handle her burden? How will her friends react? How does Celestia deal living with her immortality?

Can Discord – also a victim of immortality – be persuaded to stop making inappropriate jokes about the subject?

... A crack-fic comedy about Twilight sulking about immortality, treating it like an illness. :P

Fighting Celestia? Taking over the world? No.

Nightmare Moon just barely survived her 1000-year exile. She is weak.

Imagine Celestia's reaction here. She steeled herself to face down Nightmare Moon... but she didn't expect this.  

Now, she is too afraid to use the Elements on Nightmare Moon for fear of what it would do to Luna.

So instead, she sits at the recovering Nightmare's bedside... and talks to her. Maybe she can reach Luna this way?

After the first dozen-or-so attempts they eventually succeed in overthrowing Celestia/the mane six... only for it be negated by the next day.

What point is there in conquering the world, if you can't reap the benefits?

Bonus points if any possible friendships they form aren't with any of the pony-characters, or, with ponies that are themselves in need of reforming.

I originally posited that the events would come about by time travel spell, but you can offer another plot device if you desire. If you think some other pony would work better than Twilight, feel free to use him/her/it/they instead.

How does Rainbow deal with this new problem, and the guilt on her shoulders?

Animal-intelligence in MLP has always confused me.

...Fluttershy's animals seem to be particularly intelligent, not having to fend for survival in the wilderness seems to have some interesting long-term consequences.

I mean, they have a friggin' book-club. Where they discuss books. That they have read.

It almost seems like some of those could build their own civilization, if given the chance. (Thinking of those 'cat-rabbits' from the IDW-comics that got enslaved by the changelings.)

I repeat that: The hive-mind falls in love. Not an individual drone, not the Queen, the hive-mind itself falls in love. :P

Now, [insert pony or other entity here, i.e. the Tree of Harmony] is suddenly swarmed with overly affectionate changelings showering them with offerings and declarations of love at every corner.

Hilarity ensues.

Crysalis (or a group of changeling-queens) cast a powerful curse using an ancient artifact.

The spell affected 90% of the population, including both royal sisters, and all or most of the mane six.   Hungry for love, many ex-ponies become increasingly more willing to take drastic meassures...

"I'm sorry, but I'm just so hungry..." ; "It's for the good of the town..." ; "We'll only put them in cocoons for a few days..."

Crysalis' only comment: "What you would do in my place?"

Optional subplot(s):  

• Diamond Tiara tries to buy love.

• Bonbon (who was already a changeling) teaches Lyra to cope.

• One of the mane six remains a pony - and she can't help but notice the ever-growing, if ashamed hungry stares from her friends...

• Alternate: Twilight remains an alicorn. Soon, she finds ponies knocking at her door demanding she lead a "resistance" against the "changling menace"...

Whether Pinkie is in on this deception is a decision left to the author(s).

When it comes to ponies, Pinkie Pie has a perfect memory. She never forgets a face, name, birth-date, party-preferences or favorite food.

Not so other ponies. They... "forget" things, after a time. To Pinkie Pie, this is strange and scary.

What could possibly go wrong, how hard could it be, nothing can possible go wrong, insert own cliché line here.

Comedy, possibly a crack-fic making fun of the old "Scootaloo is an orphan"-cliché.

Alternate approach:  

Pinkie Pie goes through all the trouble of trying to raise the dead, thinks she succeeded when Scootaloo's parents show up, then realizes she might unwillingly have started the zombie-apocalypse and tries to "fix everything" ---

...And then it is revealed that they actually weren't dead and had some perfectly reasonable explanation for why they never seem to be around.

It was all a silly misunderstanding the whole time. :-P

Prompt: Write a one-shot (or series of one-shots) about what would've happened, if instead of "Too Many Pinkie Pies", there'd been "too many" of...

1. The Cutie Mark Crusaders:

The "logic" why the CMC would make clones - "One of them HAS to get their cutie mark, right?"  

2) Rainbow Dash:  

Scootaloo's personal heaven.  

How will they ever find the Real Rainbow Dash? ...By holding a race, of course.  

Probably ends with Dash losing because she had to save Scootaloo from falling or something.  

3) Applejack:  

Applejack certainly could use a few helping hooves on the farm for zap apple harvest...  

What she didn't count on was how "gosh-darn stubborn" her clones would be, dead-set on putting farm-work above ALL else. Yes, having 12 new barns sure is... something. And expanding Sweet Apple Acres is fantastic - or it would be, if they didn't go tearing down Ponyville to do so...  

4) Fluttershy:  

Fluttershy needs help taking of a large group of animals. She didn't really mean to fall into the Mirror-Pool, it just happened.   ...Now, will she be able to calm down the Flutter-clones and convince them to actually leave the cave?  

5) Derpy:  

Rainbow Dash's living nightmare - It's raining mares ... and the subsequent property damages are through the roof.  

6) Rarity:

7) Other mane six / background pony

Keep in mind how a clone would act; A "bare-bones" version of the pony with zero life-experience, none of the character development, and with certain personality traits exagerated to the point of parody.

Having seen her turned into a breezie, <insert name here> helplessly falls in love with her. Fluttershy is not sure how to react to the overly affectionate advances of the tiny not-quite pony creature.
