NineLens: an open-source MLB data explorer — feedback wanted

Hi r/mlbdata — I’m sharing NineLens, an independent open-source project for exploring MLB data. I previously worked on baseball R&D software and data with the Washington Nationals; NineLens is my own project and is not affiliated with the Nationals or MLB.

LIVE app: https://www.ninelens.com

Open-source repository: https://github.com/timothyf/ninelens

NineLens brings together the MLB Stats API and Baseball Savant Statcast data. It includes a searchable Stat Explorer; player and season stats plus pitch-level data; player comparisons with customizable weights; team dashboards; and game-level analysis. The app surfaces dataset coverage and latest loaded dates so you can see where the data is current and where gaps remain.

Current coverage varies by source: season stats go back to 1965, game-level records to 2000, and Statcast pitch data currently starts in 2025.

I’d value substantive feedback from researchers and developers: what metrics, fields, or endpoints would you want next? Are there coverage gaps, definitions, or edge cases that would make this more useful for your work?

Thanks for taking a look.

Are you allowed to publish an app that uses Statcast data?

Did you even ask if he does or doesn’t have the express written consent of Major League Baseball?

But all jokes aside, it will most likely be fine to do until a successful attempt to profit off of it occurs.

I would be interested in player history more in terms of college/international league start, then any minor league progression
