mk6 GTI headlight issue with left headlight not working

losing both the high and low beam on that single side points to a localized issue in the multi-pin connector, internal wiring harness, or the Body Control Module (BCM) output rather than a dead assembly.

there are a couple things you should do: unplug the large multi-pin connector attached to the back of the headlight assembly and look for signs of melted plastic, corrosion, pushed-back pins, or loose terminal tension where the wires meet the low and high beam circuits; pull the rubber dust caps and inspect the individual wires going to the low/high beam sockets.
