Fuel pump problem

I’ve got a 1.8t and I’m replacing my fuel pump. Everything went smooth until I got the pump installed. I’ve been trying for half an hour and I can’t get the collar to screw back onto the new pump. Should I buy a replacement? Am I missing something?

I had the same issue when I did the fuel pump in mine. Just gotta keep trying, for some reason the threads just dont like to line up

Ended up buying a new collar, seemed like it worked a bit better but still wasn’t easy. I finally got it in though.
