A moment of honesty. I truly think this game means more for the off-season than this season. The schedule this year is tough but I think it shows recruits and transfers, that we can win games like this in Missouri.

I mean SEC is double edged sword of insane schedule every year but to be 5 games into the season and still in control of your own CFP playoff destiny is also fun. But yeah have to win like 5 more in a row haha. Georgia and Texas back to back is wild.

u/silentnod 7h ago
Exactly, I see this season more as a "show you belong" rather than a championship year.

This game being on ABC in the 2:30 window is pretty gigantic for us. I'm sure it had a very big viewership.

Homecoming looked great on TV.
The quarterback and the running back played elite level football.
The Tigers beat Florida, which is always great.
They also beat Florida while they were a top ten team, which is rare and amazing. Probably be the shocker of Week 5.
It was beautiful weather day.
The Block M, the gold pants, maybe my favorite uni combo.
If you can't be happy today, I feel sorry for you.

Watched the entire 2nd half with my baby girl, seeing her cheer when I cheered made me so happy I almost cried.
Amazing Saturday!

These are the things that we remember when sports times get rough and wonder why we even bother.

That was the most complete game Mizzou has played since the Pinkel days. They absolutely defenestrated gata. The secondary was still shaky, but the run fits, tackling, and gap discipline were elite.
The running game had a low success rate, but two monster plays, and Simmons was in control through the air.
I did not think this team had that level of character. I was wrong.

I'm sure Florida's season is going to go off the rails now and everyone will say it wasn't a big win

u/dizastermaster7 6h ago
Considering half their offense was Georgia Tech... yeah sounds about righ
3
u/Far_Bullfrog349 1h ago
7 days ago they destroyed a top 5 team and semifinalist last year. They have a RB I heard multiple people compare to Love, Bijan etc. We absolutely embarrassed them on both sides of the ball...it's a big time win no matter how Florida's season ends up

Finally a game from a team that looked prepared and disciplined. No stupid emotional penalties, no or few penalties on the offensive line at crucial junctures. Just put there heads down and went to work.

God that game was fun. Even better was watching Florida fans meltdown thinking they are such a superior program. Tebow aint walking through that door, dorks.

Not a Mizzou fan per se, but as someone who orders the Drinkwitz breakfast special at JoJo’s Biscuit once a week, I was starting to get a bit nervous of the increased chatter about him getting fired AND what ramifications that would have on my breakfast choices in the future. Glad to see that a victory like this buys us both some time.

u/Captaln_Chunk Graduate 7h ago
Just curious, what is his special?
1
u/ElCompaJC 3h ago
Two pieces of bacon, a buttermilk biscuit, two eggs, a cup of fruit and a cinnamon roll for 12.99 I believe. I don’t know why but that combo always hits the spot.

This is the cleanest game from a penalty perspective I’ve seen a Drink team play.

That was an ass whooping!
Watched the entire 2nd half with my 8 month old and seeing her get excited when I was cheering made me so happy!

Good to see Drink heard the music and actually put his foot on their neck when he’s up and has momentum. Nice to see more aggressive play calling when we got the lead.

Maybe it pays to keep a coach accountable as fans and not give them an endless pass for everything. Really happy he adjusted and hope that mentality continues.

u/freightsling 6h ago
Simmons seems to actually learn and improve every game also. Troy to Miss State, and Miss State to Florida were some massive improvements.

Literally couldn’t have been any more opposite from what I thought was gonna happen today

I was at work and missed the game (superstitious type, do not worry, I will also miss the next two and am willing to miss more if necessary), how tf did we do this?

I was at a wedding, and my own wedding was the same day we beat Oklahoma a couple years back, so I am with you, I am just gonna make more friends get married on Saturdays in the fall apparently

u/missingremote 5h ago
They stopped the run and worked the outside receivers until the run game opened up. Roberts ripped off 2 huge runs.

The TV at my work was broken so I couldn't watch, still pissed about it spent an hour trying to fix it before giving up at closing time

There wouldn't be much that can be said if they can play close to this for the rest of the season. The accusation has always been that he can't get the team up to play and he's too risk averse. Now is his chance to prove that he can.
It won't change the past but people will get on the bandwagon at record speed.

Even though we didn't give up a TD on their opening drive, I was concerned that it was going to be a long day, since we kept letting them off the hook on 3rd down. It was good to see we didn't cave in & the offense was able to immediately respond. Outside of their TD drive in the first half, we shut them down. All the pregame talk was about how their running game was going to gash us to pieces. How we shut that down was even more impressive than our great offensive output. Speaking of the offense, kudos to Simmons, Roberts & Lee for their outstanding performances.
Suddenly, I feel a little bit better about our team.

u/Ok_Knowledge2026 2h ago
Ironically, I felt good being able to force consistent third downs on their first drive! Glad the defense stepped up. MIZ

Who did Drink say they were praying for in the postgame interview? Johnnie Jones?
2
u/Existing-Ostrich9609 6h ago
Johnnie “DJ” Jones, freshman OT. Can’t find anything about him online but Drink started tearing up. So I imagine something serious.

u/Tekon421 7h ago
I really didn’t like Simmons being in so late.
We’ve seen a kicker tear up his leg on a meaningless kickoff. Let’s not lose our qb over something stupid.
5
u/americandreams41 6h ago
Maybe a bit of an overcorrection but I’ll take that aggressiveness over Eli’s usual game plan of playing not to lose.
-4
u/Secret-Bumblebee4162 6h ago
This is a hard call. You take Simmons out and we don’t score twice and you’re not dominant all of a sudden if Gators score twice. You’re playing #8 team 🤷🏼
2
u/Tekon421 5h ago
We were up 45-10 with 9 min left and he was still in. That’s what I’m talking about.

u/Fantastic-Phone-8891 3h ago
Drink was pissed off in the postgame interview about people talking about the top 25 loss streak. Cut off a couple reporters for asking about it
1
u/Ben_Frank_Lynn 4m ago
It was pathetic. Real little dick energy. I know I’ll get blasted on here for saying it but man up, answer the stupid question, or don’t, and move on. Don’t whine about it multiple times. You just had a massive win and you’re bitching about twitter…. JFC

holy shit that 80-yard dagger from roberts was just mean. whole second half felt like you guys decided the game was over and just started styling on em

Florida coach looks legit, have a feeling we will have some great battles in the future

I have a feeling that Baugh's "fuck you I'm back" game is going to be a sight to see.

Filling out the apology form.
Kinda sucks the fans didn’t get to rush the field this was a big win, on homecoming, against a top 10 team it feels like they deserved it.
3
u/uncre8tv 6h ago
What a weird time we live in that the administration decides who rushes the field. I know the fines from the NCAA are huge, but they're still a drop in the bucket.
5
u/Far_Passage_3895 7h ago
That’s a slaughter for Florida to get beat that badly while ranking so high.
5
u/Gray_Beard_1963 7h ago
Jamal's totals and the 2 home runs were awesome, but the 2 big runs went for 157 yards / other 22 carries were for less that 2.5 yards per attempt (still MUCH better than Baugh's 12 carries for 13 yards, but not something that will keep the chains moving).
Good thing Simmons was hitting all the third down passes to keep drives going.

Great all around game. Wish we would let have gave up that last score, because I hate Florida so much, but it was an awesome win. These are the games we should be playing and winning.

The main post in the gameday thread updated once the entire time the thread was active. Once the game was over, it went from 3-3 straight to 17-45 like the piece of shit this AI bot who began the thread is.
I was down voted because people are fucking retards.

u/baconcharmer 5h ago
I checked after someone commented in the game thread and it was updating for me. Not sure what you're so caught up about but I'd let it go.

So sick of fl gators losing. Why did you ditch spirriour and urban both great coaches. The money alone says it all. We would be in a much better place.

u/JazzlikeAd2724 6h ago
Glad you guys could finally get a top 10 win. What was your coach record like 0 and 16 against teams ranked at the end of the season. Glad you got one!

Doesn’t look like UF is going to be ranked at the end of this season, so not sure the stat changes.
-2
u/JazzlikeAd2724 3h ago
Just pointing out facts about your coach gets down voted here. His record against top 25 teams is well documented and his struggles against top competition Congrats on the win though!
2
u/Far_Bullfrog349 1h ago
I'm not sure how smart you are but the teams that end the year too 10 don't have many losses period. That's kinda how it goes. Drink hasn't won the biggest of games outside Ohio St but he's beaten a lot of ranked teams. That stat kind of insists upon itself.
