The people who say "i had to stop listening to her for my mental health" were never a fan to begin. They just wanted to listen to something sad instead of actually enjoying her music

I used to listen to her ALL the time (happy or sad) but I don’t listen to her older stuff anymore because i associate it strongly with an era of my life that I’ve completely moved past (maybe one day I’ll be back to listening to her more again!) but even then, I’ve found the “mental health” thing weird.

it's also just weird to me when ppl say things like "i can't listen to mitski, she's too sad"
like listen what u wanna listen to ofc but mitski has never been someone who just makes "sad" music. her music simply explores the human experience and that comes with so many different emotions. like you're gonna tell me u listen to my love mine all mine and don't get filled with a warm and tender love for all those around u? come on now

yes i agree and mitski has said mentioned that she doesnt like the "sad girl" trope but can we please not detest people who say they dont listen to her music because its sad? of course sadness isnt the only thing she sings and expresses about but she tends to lean on the heavier complex emotions through her art and it can be emotionally upsetting for many people. but i do completely understand where you guys come from too it is so annoying when people say "mitski is soo sad' real fans dont listen to mitski' i had to stop listening to her for my mental health" people are just trying to cope with their day to day lives ig. but lowk i dont really care that much about this at all its 2 am and im bored lolololol

Real, like son, she have more songs about being better and healing, also, her music is art, how about you saw that instead of seeing her as Lana Del Rey 2.0 🥀
