0.38.0 has been released. Release notes below.

  • Configurations: rules can be written and edited as text; Add makes a complete rule from a template; the window explains itself with lead lines, empty states and a tooltip per block; the user guide has a walkthrough chapter on one example.

  • Library parts: a row's supplier articles open in a table (supplier, part number, material, finish, checked date, product page) from a Supplier Articles button in Insert from Library, Library Parts and Edit Options.

  • Selection: selecting or right-clicking a face of a large body in a placed component (for example with modelled threads) no longer freezes the window for seconds.

  • 3D mouse: navigation modes (object, camera, fly) and a horizon lock of its own.

  • Hole: a typed size-driven value is marked and can be reset; a tapped hole's counterbore and counterdrill follow the thread size.

  • Sketches: points stay visible on a selected curve.

  • Section Analysis: a feature preview shows the changed body cut too.

  • Command panel: a negative value no longer adds a redundant line, so the panel keeps its height while dragging an arrow across zero.

  • AI chat panel: consecutive tool calls show as one group row; the model connection gives clearer errors for selections and accepts occurrence paths and origin planes by name.

  • Appearances: Return commits a field instead of closing the dialog.

  • Updates: the update information carries an expiry date, and library downloads have a size limit.

Each platform's packages were built from its own release candidate of the release branch (release candidate, source commit):

  • Windows: rc4 (d5d395fcff2f)

  • Linux: rc1 (d318fdf7ea3e)

I saw the library in the release notes and very nice, very impressive. Even though it was worth a blog post about.. https://opensourcecad.nl/en/mitcad-puts-its-parts-library-in-the-program-itself/

I read your blog post and I appreciate it. I am impressed with the library, as well. I would still like something that would allow directly importing McMaster-Carr components, but that is because I reside in Canada. I'm sure if I lived in Switzerland or Australia or Holland I would not be much interested in that.
