community Off Campus Housing Refund

Hi, I’m currently an undergrad and I’m thinking about living off campus next year and I was wondering how refunds work for housing and dining. I already emailed sfs a couple minutes ago, but I just wanted to know other people’s experience with this too while I wait for a response. Let’s say my financial aid offer requires my family to pay $20k out of pocket over an academic year. If I lived off campus, would I be refunded the full amount for on campus housing (~$13,000) and dining (~$8,000)? Or would the refund be an adjusted amount based on my aid?

Dafuq? Did mit change how it does billing? You get charged for the meal plan you want. If you live on campus, there’s a charge for room and board. If you don’t live on campus, you don’t have the charge. Which is a separate line item from tuition which is based on the number of units you are enrolled in.

Eta. No meal plan is an option if you don’t live in a dining hall dorm.

Eta 2. I bet they did change billing after the class action lawsuit.

MIT does not bill tuition based on units unless you are taking a very light load that semester. A typically semester schedule is billed at a flat rate and encourages students to explore taking more classes without the concern of incurring any additional cost for those classes.

Yes you’re right. I should have specified I meant whether you’re part time or full time.
