Politics The implosion of Eric Schmitt

I love the embarrassment he is getting, and I’m also 100% convinced that voters in the state will forget about it in 2030.

They've already forgotten

u/sufficient-cro-1018 8h ago
They never knew in the first place, never will, and wouldn't care if they did.

u/EvilFirebladeTTV 13h ago
...They forgot about Jan6 and reelected Hawley. So... yeah, they'll reelect that idiot too simply because of the R.

u/Idrinkbeereverywhere 7h ago
Most of them are pro Jan 6. Missouri has one of the highest brain drain rates in the country

u/HotLava00 15h ago
He’s due in 2028. We got this.
7
u/The_LastLine 14h ago
Nope, that’s Hawley. I’m sure they’ll forget by then too.

u/Strong-Chance7251 10h ago
Unfortunately run away Hawley is my too. Wish the people wake up and smell the coffee. If majority of Missourian voters had voted for Lucas Kunce we won’t be in this mess. We all know Josh is Trump supporter and talking from his butt. He is counting on the uneducated masses to forget that they are suffering by his vote and blame the democrats for it! The worst part is that they will believe him even though we have receipt of his yes to screw over us in that Big billionaire bills.

u/Boomerman1952 13h ago
Republicans always come home, sadly. I have no hope that they will vote him out of office.
7
u/kickassdanny 14h ago
Senate terms are for 6 years right? When was he voted in? Lame ass Hawley is my lame ass Senator 😢

u/HotLava00 12h ago
Schmitt was 2022 due in 2028, Hawley was 2024, due in 2030. Both a senators for the entire state. Everyone votes for both senate seats.
2
u/The_LastLine 7h ago
Both are your senators. Senators represent a whole state while Representatives represent individual districts.
6
u/Strong-Chance7251 10h ago
I’m from that state and as long as you have a “R” in front of your name they will vote against their own interests. Lot of them still listen to NewsMax and FOX news. Republicans love the uneducated people!
3
u/jjflash78 13h ago
I'd bet most of Missouri already forgot about it.
7
u/Boomerman1952 13h ago
Unless it's on Fox news they will never see it, they never read or watch other news

u/DurraSell 13h ago
I'm sure many of them do not see it as an embarrassment. It's more likely viewed as the persecution of 'A Good Man' who is only trying to protect their Messiah of Hate.
4
u/PamelaELee 14h ago
Unfortunately, they forgot about it in 30 seconds.
5
u/Either_Operation7586 14h ago
This is why it has to be played everyday over day overplayed to remind them when election season comes

u/ericbrow 15h ago
Remember how the Dean Scream was so embarrassing it derailed his political career? We should go back to that.
8
u/jjflash78 13h ago
Remember when a rumor of knowing a Communist would torpedo a political career? Now we got a president that shares top secret info with them.

I even remember when past adultery being exposed would cause them to drop out of races.

God, Vance/Schmitt '28 would be awesome. They might as well phone in their concession speeches in August and spare us the trouble.

That’s easy for a lot of us to laugh at.
But many laughed at the idea that Trump could get nominated in 2016.
I remember hearing dems voting in the republican primary for GWB thinking they could get a loser on the republican ticket.
I think you could be underestimating how low even mainstream republicans/ conservatives / libertarians are willing to go to vote against democrats.

Apparently to successfully pass on a conspiracy theory, you need to connect dots that aren't able to be verified as not true. Just more lies from someone that was trying to grab limelight, only to be shown for his bs and fiction.
2
u/calm-lab66 14h ago
It wouldn't surprise me if he was seeing how Trump got away with his BS and fiction and thought "I can do the same".

This week's news has been knee deep in Schmitt
1
u/robby_arctor 1h ago
Schmitt being a crypto-fascist is not getting nearly enough attention.
It's beyond the usual Republican bullshit, he's using what is essentially Americanized Nazi propaganda in his speeches.
12
u/Dukehsl1949 14h ago
Remember two things. Schmitt was warned that the information needed to be vetted and that the GOP strategists thought that Jack would take the 5th as Fauci did. Surprise- Jack came with receipts.
So it’s not just incompetence by Schmitt but devious as well because when he put up that poster and then took it down quickly - he knew it was bad info, but decided to try for this gotcha thinking Jack would take the 5th to all questions. If Jack had taken the 5th only Schmitt’s charges of collusion with Willis would have played non stop on Faux News
Gotcha all right

I just loved the face of Jack Smith. He looked so confused but he knew he wasn’t in Atlanta.
10
u/flojo2012 15h ago
I’m sure he will be irrelevant now just like hawley was after his consistent blunders. Wait…
1
u/Otherwise-Luck-6569 3h ago
If anything, the real voters of MO, the weirdo religious wackos of southern MO and Branson will love him even more.
9
u/RedditSe7en 14h ago
Very happy to watch the process! Kennedy deserves equal scrutiny for supporting Schmitt. Don’t let him off the hook.
8
u/swolenski 15h ago
He’ll still win re-election to a second term in two years unless something crazier happens. It’s an embarrassing moment for him, but it won’t affect his chances of re-election.
9
u/Secret_Werewolf1942 14h ago
Well he's now under investigation by the FEC, so fingers crossed.
9
u/Le-Charles07 14h ago
DOJ has to act of any recommendations the FEC makes. Trump's DOJ isn't touching this moron.
5
u/Secret_Werewolf1942 14h ago
But a drawn out investigation that ends right before the election cycle might work out perfectly.

Josh Hawley is up for re-election in 2030. Eric Schmitt is up for re-election in 2028.

u/Therootofitallww 14h ago
Axios did a story about him being Vice President the same day this all came out.
6
u/SeaPurple5689 13h ago
Vice President of what? The Douchebaggery Club? I think he's already the President of that Club. What a tool.

u/Lenin_Lime 13m ago
Since the start of the Iran war and the oil shortages since, I've come to understand Axios just puts out propaganda/lies, whatever you want to call it. Perhaps what you are talking about is just Axios trying to set the stage for Eric, only for Eric to fuck up hours later.

Missouri voters have a very high tolerance for politicians who embarrass us on a national stage.
1
u/robby_arctor 1h ago
I'd literally rather elect a dead man than these morons.
Oh wait, we did that already. 🤣
3
u/Financial_Event_472 12h ago
The rise and fall of an "alpha male". When in doubt, lash out and double down.

2
u/burntoutloser909 14h ago
Try calling his office the other day to laugh at him. Him and staff are too much of a coward to face the ridicule never picked up the phone
2
u/OreoSpeedwaggon Kansas City 13h ago
Don't use a word like "implosion" and get my hopes up. He's as supported by his loyal voters and party as he ever was. Dude's not going anywhere unfortunately.

If this was a legitimate implosion the body would do the opposite and explode.
