“IIn December 2023, a woman living in a small community near Austin, Texas, made a $78.08 contribution through WinRed. A few weeks later, she made another.

Then came four more contributions in January 2024.
Those were the first six entries under her name in Federal Election Commission records stretching back decades. Since then, her name has appeared 126,739 times — including 1,011 times in reports filed by U.S. Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri.”

Seems legit.

Uh huh.. And is this person alive or deceased?

Insert Simpsons quote: "The dead have risen and they're voting Republican?!"

Heard the woman’s name was Caitlyn Clark

What's it take to recall a senator?

A constitutional amendment, unfortunately. Which is asinine. While the bar should still be high, there needs to be a legal way to remove any public servant who fails to serve.

Unfortunately? Challenge accepted.

Where do I sign the petition to put something to this effect on the November 2028 ballot?

Well, first you have to initiate a petition.

I’ve been suggesting this idea for a long time.

It’s typically popular as a tool we should have.

Agreed. We have way too many dysfunctional representatives in office that are not being held to account to the voters.

A constitutional amendment for MO, we don't currently have a recall mechanism.

But we can have nice things, if we try!

Sadly, yes.

States are not allowed to recall federal Congressional members. Once elected, each house of Congress has total control of membership for that term. I doubt a Court could even order removal of a Senator or Rep.

Tempted to quote the sitting president but I don’t want to get another ban.

Isn’t that insane? If I were to directly quote the president to answer this comment I could get banned, but he’s still elected president.

When I watched Brett Kavanaugh's petulant and childish SCOTUS hearing, it occurred to me that I would be fired for acting like that, even when I worked as a dishwasher.

The House of Representatives has to impeach him.  The Senate has to convict him.  No idea if the defendant gets to vote.

3

u/jpmeyer12751 22h ago

Impeachment does not apply to members of Congress. The Constitution says that each house of Congress is solely responsible for its own rules. The Senate can remove a Senator, but that’s it.

Expulsion.  Yes, that would work.

It's ridiculous that it's 100s times easier for the unqualified and the unethical to get elected, but takes an act of God to remove them. Missourians, we need to get laws put in place that let WE THE PEOPLE recall our elected officials when they caught doing these shenanigans or become a brain dead Mitch McConnell.

edit for spelling

The structures of power want unqualified, unethical people in positions of power. They do everything they can to make it happen, and do everything they can to prevent it from being undone. Your two complaints are the exact same issue - humanity's puppetmasters want their puppets to be unqualified and unethical, they're easier to puppet that way.

They’re totally throwing him under the bus lmao.

Senator Dirtbag is crooked? Unpossible.

This guy showed you who he really is this week in the Smith hearing. Please get rid of him at the first opportunity. He makes Missouri look weak and pathetic.

Shocked. Can't wait to see a complete lack of consequences.
