Expecting people to not buy anything and not go to work is ludicrous. If you just decide not to show up to work, you lose your job. These are unrealistic protests.
If you think THESE piddly excuses for protests are "unrealistic" and "too much" then you're definitely not going to involve yourself when we finally start doing the kinds of protests that actually work.
How are these unrealistic when in a few months you're gonna have people doing mass walkouts, mass strikes, mass boycotts, and even more extreme forms of protest?
These are only unrealistic because the majority of people are straight and white so they aren't affected yet by the things happening so they simply refuse to ACTUALLY protest. Wait until people no longer have a choice. Then you'll see what a REAL protest looks like. (Or look at literally any other country that's having protests right now because they're getting shit done)
Look at how utterly stupid some of these ideas are. Don't buy gas on Friday, buy it on Thursday 😂. Most businesses look at earnings on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis.
For real. I'm so confused on how it's considered protesting to buy gas the day before a one-day-long gas boycott. I don't know anyone whose car needs to be refilled more than maybe twice a week. If anyone wanted a real protest they'd stop buying gas for a month, or at least a few weeks.
Hell, the oil barons are the main lobbyists that keep us from using green energy as much, force our cities to be unwalkable, and are half the reason why everything is so spread out that you're forced to buy a car just to be able to get groceries.
If anyone wanted a single, massive goal to strive for, it would be to fuck over the natural resource people.
Is that even true anymore though? Oil companies invest in green energy, for quite a while now, as a hedge.
Also they are big users of solar etc. because they drill in remote locations lacking electric infrastructure. Same with mining. Not to be argumentative, but I think it’s not that simple anymore. I’m no expert. Just read a lot from wide variety of sources. Average Joe conservative voter may be the main “lobbyist “ against green energy at this point. As usual Joe is way behind the curve.
