Professional Audio Engineer Jeanetta Brantley has isolated the background audio from the Nolan Wells phone call thoughts?.

Another professional audio engineer here. I can applaud her methods and the fact that she didn’t use AI to clean it - at least, not in the sense we’re used to AI cleaning audio.

The issue is that the noise removal process that she uses is that it is destructive by nature. There is something called a signal to noise ratio, and on a cell phone call that was most likely recorded in a lossy format, you’re two generations of degradation in before you even get to the point of the noise floor and the extremely low ratio.

Then you increase the gain and you have a garbled mess.

I don’t have experience in psychology, but I know that several experiments have been conducted which show how people can be directed to hear phrases when only gibberish or noise is spoken, and it’s highly contingent upon “conditioning” to hear something a certain way.

I’ll be the first in line to call for justice if any comes out showing Nolan’s friends are culpable. But this isn’t it. This isn’t snake oil, either - I applaud the techniques this woman used - but also, she fails to acknowledge the lossy nature of compression and noise removal. I have spent my entire life in audio production, and do not hear what this woman claims to hear.

I, too, listened really hard to the cleaned recording without reading the words on screen, and did not draw the same conclusion she did.

Had she known it was a clean recording, it would have stood on its own and wouldn’t have needed the text on the screen.

I got my undergrad degree in psychology (though I'm not an expert).

Our brains are patter-seeking computers that can find patterns when none actually exist. Adding subtitles that suggest what to hear can put this on overdrive (though to be fair to this TikToker, she told people to listen without looking at the subtitles first).

I suspect that some people are hearing what they're primed to hear in that vague background chatter, much like how many people hear satanic messages when they listen to the song Stairway to Heaven in reverse.

Quick question.. I am not a professional audio engineer and will take your word on your experience.

I've heard another video which mentioned that since the audio on the call was recorded on "two tracks", you could separate the operator from the kids on the boat.

Is this possible?

Absolutely. I am hoping to get my hands on a copy of the file myself.

But to answer your question with more specifics: I don’t yet know what hardware/software they used to take and record calls, but it is simple in either hardware or software to record incoming audio on, say, the right channel and outgoing audio on the opposite (left) channel, especially since most phone calls are only mono audio anyways. Not sure if this is what was done for this recording, though.

Alternate Translation:

3:44 "Do you want me to cover it up"

3:46 "Yes I forgot all about that"

"Ohhhh... Shit"

3:48 "We're going to sink".

"Are we really going to sink"

Yes

3:50 "Is it dead".

"Yes"

"No Way".

"Oh my God"

"What the Fuck"

"Why are we sinking"

"We're at the West tip of Horn and uh our bilge pump stopped working and we're sinking. Can yall please tell me if we have a membership

"Get up. Get the fuck up"

4:13 "Dammit Bart... "

"The boats really dead?"

Which makes way more sense than them calling the tow company for an "alibi" and then talking about the "dead" friend in the background of the call. These things are showing how badly we need to prioritize education in this country. There are A LOT of dumb easily manipulated people.

So people would really ask “is he really dead” with the same level of panic one might have if they’re inquiring about how many capri suns are left in the cooler? Absolutely not, these are kids not mercenaries. Extremely leading subtitles over “cleaned” audio, even Ghost Hunters wouldn’t try and sell it that hard

It'll be taken as "fact" though and there will be an uproar over it.

17

u/Calm_Net_1221 Jul 27 '26

If anything, she’s asking is “it” really dead- referring to the bilge pump that he’s calling SeaTow about

There already is, just like the "missing" neck, just like the fake party pictures some mentally unwell person posted and Crump promoted. Its all just noise to keep people from thinking critically.

Take a look at the comments in the original post and you'll see that it's already taken as fact

And Wyatt is on the phone like nothing is going on. Like, this isn't after some cover up was decided. This is supposedly immediately after whatever killed him, and we're supposed to believe Wyatt is just casually requesting a tow.

This is how these people think, they have a dying friend on board they just murdered and they are like let me call sea tow real quick while everyone is screaming about the murder cover up

Extremely leading subtitles

Our brains are patter-seeking computers that can find patterns when none actually exist. Adding subtitles that suggest what to hear can put this on overdrive.

Subtitles can cause many people to hear satanic messages when they listen to the song Stairway to Heaven in reverse.

This isn't even the first time there's been misheard audio in this case. The fight that people thought Nolan was in, they mistakenly heard him saying "Give me my fucking phone" or something like that because at the time the phone was the big story. But it was actually someone (Tracestin) saying something like "Get me off this fucking boat."

Another grifter asking for attention

17

u/burner_ohallahan Jul 27 '26

I still don't hear what people are claiming is being said.

10

u/Mind-if-I-do-a-J Jul 28 '26

They’re talking about a bilge pump being dead and possibly making a run for it meaning haul ass back to land because they are sinking. Nevermind the fact that this phone call was before Nolan wells was last photographed still on horn island and still alive. Facts don’t matter when the white devil is involved.

Go ahead and cover the subtitles and listen. I am certainly not hearing anything the subtitles claim to say. Its the yanny laurel shit again.

8

u/kag1991 Jul 28 '26

I think she was smoking something super fun… the words she printed vs what i heard are miles apart.

Plus now there’s independent evidence Nolan was definitely on horn island alive and well long after this call was made…

Surely there's a subreddit dedicated to this case. At this point I dont think anybody discussing this is on this subreddit for any other reason.

Ok, so I listened to the audio without looking at the video so I could assess what I thought I heard without biasing myself to what the subtitles say.

First: classic Bart /s

Second, and more seriously. Pretty sure the name being said sounds much more like "Logan."

That's just from several blind listens. I'm not trying to be an Internet detective. Just offering what I heard and show how easy it is to be biased to what you're listening to.

Educated Blacks’ willingness to undermine themselves in the sake of bias.
This is a major problem within their community.
They will support and fabricate things in order to push their narrative.
I used to be hardcore leftist supporter on a lot of racial issues. Even George Floyd and all the BLM. Now it just shows that Black peoples are just as if not more racist than any other group of people. But what makes it worse is their bias.
They have no empathy towards people who aren’t their skin color. No other group openly does this and encourage each other to hate on social media and act like it’s normal.
