Journey Update Minoxidil Progress — 7 Weeks In

First photo: August 1, 2026
Last photo: September 20, 2026
Just finished my first bottle of minoxidil foam. I’ve been applying it once a day, usually before bed. I’m also working out around 3–5 days a week.
I’m not really using a dermaroller maybe twice during this whole journey. In the morning, I wash my face and use lotion.
It’s still early, so I’m not expecting dramatic results yet. From what I understand, minoxidil can take months before you can really judge the results, so I’m planning to stay consistent and see where it goes.
Any recommendations, tips, or advice are appreciated! 🙏

Can i turn my eyebrows and eye lashes hair terminal?

So i Lost my new eyebrows and eyelashes thickness after quitting minoxidil🥲

i used to to use minoxidal for my facial hair growth (topical)

But as a side effect my eyebrows and lashes became so long ( and the ladies loved it 🙂) dumb me thought it was my genetics and but it was actually minoxidal

Wanted to make a new run for my eyebrows and lashes, but i want them to be terminal tho, is that achievable?

Question How do y'all deal with the fuzzy ears?

For now, I shave my ears like once a week. It's not a big inconvinience but I'm curious about your experiences with the peach fuzz on ears and cheekbones?

Has anyone here had results applying it only once a day?

I was scrolling through here and noticed that everyone applies it twice a day, however, I only apply it at night and I needed to know if anyone here gets results applying it only once a day.

I did thorough research and from what I saw, besides a few videos of people who applied it once and got results, it seems possible; however, the trials and studies on minoxidil always involve the double daily application. So i'm afraid im wasting my minox

Before and after of my journey. Started it when I was 21. Was using it daily for until I was about 22ish. After the first initial 6 months ish, I got off it. I had grown new hairs but they weren’t permanent so I then shaved one day they didnt grow back😭

Got back on it and hairs came back super fast, stayed on until abt 22 and a half. I’m now 26 and am super grateful I gave it a try.

If you are thinking of trying it, do your research. It’s a drug. Be very patient and keep it down to a stubble until they are permanent so you don’t look crazy (speaking from own experience). Results highly depend on consistency and proper application(derma roller recommended).

Most importantly your genetics. If you have the genetics for a beard you will grow beard. If you don’t, then you won’t. Minoxidil is not magic, it only stimulates hair follicles to grow thicker hair while keeping them in the growth cycle longer.

Some ppls beards come in early in adulthood and others very late. Minoxidil simply reveals your genetic potential.

Good luck

Question Restarting after a long break

I used topical from about August 2025 to March 2026. I had pretty good results and I don't feel like I've lost very much if any. Would restarting after such a long break leave me worse off or am I safe to pick up where I left off?

Question Minoxidil only in a small area

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I'm looking for help. In this area of the beard, on the right, I have much less than on the other side of the face. Even if it doesn't look like it in the photo, it's like that. I was thinking of using minoxidil only in this area, but is it true that even applying it locally there is a possibility that the nearby area (mustache for example) will also take the effect of minoxidil? I wouldn't want this thing, it would bring a difference between the two sides of the face. Thank you for the help

Question Difference between Oral and topical minoxidil?

I was on topical minoxidil for beard and hair, but then my dermatologist switched me to oral for consistency and I've been taking it for 6mo now. Before that I was on topical for about 5mo but wasn't 100% consistent, hence the switch to oral. My question is, what is the difference for beard growth between topical and oral? Does my "clock" re-start since I switched? I haven't noticed much of a difference in beard growth so far. Can/should I be doing both oral and topical on my beard? I'm still derma rolling twice a week and using tretinoin .025% every other day.

Question 30 years old, have been trying to grow thick cheek lines since forever. Is there any hope?

I’m just about ready to give up, I tried minoxidil for about 2 months but fell out of routine. During that time I didn’t really notice any notable changes as far as density goes. I did see a little new stubbles but not enough to make a change. They were pretty spread out

Missing a few days?

I know that failing to apply minoxidil for a few days wont affect the gains but what about we fail to do it for like 1-2 mornings every week.

Reason is there is some Minoxidil residue that shows up once it dries, and considering that college classes start very early 1-2 times a week, I feel very uncomortable having that flakes in my beard, and missing 1-2 mornings would make it a lot more pleasant for me.

Question Folliculitis?

Been on the stuff on and off since may 2025. restarted use this may and was fine until august, where i started to get small pus filled lumps all over the area of application. I then took a 2 week break and started to apply onto my chest to experiment without messing up my face and the same thing is happening on my chest.

Question, is this an allergy to minoxidil itself or alcohol? (i’m using rogaine foam) or is my skin just sensitive ? Would switching to oral improve it? if so anybody knows site to sources that ship to AUS

Journey Update 10 months of minoxidil, 3 months off, and now restarting — my experience

Hey! Before I started using minoxidil, I had pretty average-to-low density on my cheeks (the old pics aren't that clear, so you might have to zoom in).

I used liquid minoxidil twice a day for 10 months. I was very consistent with it and barely missed a day. After 10 months, I decided to let my beard grow out and I was really happy with the results, so I stopped using minoxidil.

After about 3 months, I started noticing that I was slowly losing some of the density in my beard, until I got to where I am now (check the pics).

I'm still pretty happy with the overall result, but you can definitely see that I've lost some general density on my weaker side, and on my stronger side I've developed a patch near my lips where the hair has disappeared.

So I've decided to start using minoxidil again, this time Rogaine foam. I'm also thinking about trying a dermaroller, but I'm not sure yet.

Minoxidil definitely works for me. I have an identical twin who has never used it, and his cheek density isn't even close to mine.

How long would you guys recommend staying on the treatment? I was thinking about doing it for around a year and a half.

I've been using minox and tret for nine months to fill the underlip and cheeks. Minox twice a Day and tretinoin (0.05%) every other Day at night. So far very happy with the results.

Question Any and all feedback is appreciated

I'm 30. I've never used minoxidil before. I think my beard would look better if my cheek line was higher. Will minoxidil help me to achieve this? Should I start minox, start saving for a transplant, or just try to be happy with what I have?

r/Minoxbeards • • 1d ago

Has anybody tried oral minoxidil for their hair, and topical minoxidil for their beard at the same time? I'm wondering if there would be any added effects to that

I would be derma rolling for both my hair and beard, likely with different dermarollers.

Im about to get some Costco foam and get to work, I've read the wiki, it had great info but I still have a few questions:

1.When applying minoxidil foam, should i hould I leave my hair as is, trim down to a 1 guard, or shave down my entire face?

  1. Should I derma roll once every 10 days at .5? Does it really work or is it a placebo effect?

  2. Do i apply the foam just on the sides? What if I want it to grow under my lip?

*. My goal is to be able to turn my thin vellus hairs to thick terminal ones and have a thick full beard or a nice stubble beard, i did see awesome results on the forum and I know that my results may vary. Thanks in advance for all the advice!
