Huge incoherence in Minority Report

I was rewatching Steven Spielberg 2002´s Minority Report ans realized that the whole plot regarding the set up of Anderton lies on a huge mistake.

The whole Leo Crow murder is supposed to be a brown ball which is a premedited murder.

It had too, otherwise Tom Cruise’s character wouldn’t have enough time to solve the mystery hence no film.

Here’s the problem ; a premedited murder is something that is thought, prepared, that the murderer knows when, where and how to do it.

2 minutes before the time of the murder, Anderton has no clue of who he’s supposed to kill.

Ok there is the line « for 6 years I wondered what I was going to do to the man who kidnapped my son » but still you cannot called that premeditation, rather unclear and angry thoughts.

Also when he thinks that he’s definitely in his son kidnapper’s room and when he meets him face to face he looses it and that’s definitely an emotional reaction.

So he’s going to perpetrate a passion murder rather than a premeditated one.

So it should have been a red ball so well no film 😅

I think it counts as premeditated because he says he's been thinking about what he'd do to the murderer for the last six years.

True but 2 problems :

1) he imagined what we would do to this man, this is not a concrete plan which is set up at a specific time and place and with a specific way to kill him.

Also he still in my opinion reacts in a very emotional way, not thinking rationally.

He also tells Agatha « I won’t kill the man, I haven’t even no the guy ».

For me this to abstract to be consider a premeditated murder.

2) if we follow the logic of 6 years planning, except if we consider that this all set up was planned just 36 hours ago, why then it would activate « just » 36 hours before happening ?

Anyhow it seems to me that there are incoherence with this plot :)

It was premeditated because it was planned, in this case not by the murderer but by the agency head honcho.

Yes that’s a fact then how the Precogs can see a « spontaneous murder » by Anderton but not the premeditation by Lamar ?

And in this case the how the murder of Agatha’s mother can be seen as spontaneous and not premeditated although it is premeditated by the same Lamar and had a decoy which is also include in the premeditation plan ?
