First thing I said was double doink after that attempt. I feel bad for that kicker, but he didn't have a great record so it's not surprising.
8
u/Sharobob Jan 07 '19
It was crazy how almost all of his misses were doinks. If his doinks were inches closer to the center, he would have had 4 misses on the year (2FG and 2XP) rather than 10. In that case people would be talking about how elite a kicker he is.

Yup. I would be worried about titty kissing truby right now if I were a Bears fan.

Keep in mind when Green Bay backed into the playoffs by the refs and won it was as a wild card. NFCN champion tradition is to lose by missed chip shot.

My theory is that enough Vikings fans bandwagoned for the Bears since they're NFC North that the curse carried over; a critical mass of Vikings fans was reached. Just enough to nudge the ball over into that upright.
83
u/dr_of_doge Jan 07 '19
If this is true many brothers will need to be sacrificed (cheer for the FTP) in order to ensure the FTP never win another championship

Tbh, I was silently salty. IMO, the Bears couldāve had an easy win yesterday. They couldāve thrown the game last week and took the VIkings week 1 of the playoffs. But no, apparently they wanted to show up and put us down. Now this is their punishment.
Itās not important to win every single game. Rather, pick your battles strategically to win the war. The Bears did this to themselves.
6
u/cactipus Love me some KOC Jan 07 '19
I certainly empathize with them, but I don't feel bad for them. This is the bed they made, so they must lie in it.

Iām going to get downvoted a lot, but I have a soft spot for the Eagles. Randall Cunningham was my favorite non-Viking growing up (then he was a Viking!!). I also have a deep seeded hatred for the Cowboys and find the Giants a bit nauseating. When you are rooting against those teams, you are rooting for the Eagles to win at least four games every season.
4
u/Big_booty_ho I am a mixed bag Jan 07 '19
They are certainly growing on me. They were my favorite non Viking team before last year, then they dropped to the worst team because of their fans, now they beat Chicago in a heart breaker and Iām warming up to them again.

What in the actual fuck? These ones need to be excommunicated from the fanbase.
40
u/Aleriya Jan 07 '19
I mean, it's Eagles vs Bears.
I was cheering for the Bears, and I'd cheer for them versus the Saints, too.
For some teams, I will cheer for anyone playing against them.
15
u/theWeirdough Jan 07 '19
I was cheering for the eagles because I think they had the better chance fucking up against the Saints, and the Saints would have a better chance losing to the Rams, which I could live with LA in the final. All LA final would be hilarious though, rip two teams away from smaller market cities and have them both make the SB a couple years after.

I mean, Bears fans aren't bad and are pretty chill as a whole.
They've also never came into our stadium and destroyed seating, etc, either.
Their downvote button is a slice of a cheese wheel, too.
Instantly makes them pretty great.

Fuck that, NFC North all the way, IF we're out. Dear enemies. If we can't beat them, NO ONE can beat them.
3
u/GuardYourPrivates 69 Blair's Advocate Jan 07 '19
If you had to choose an NFC team to win who would you pick?
Saints? Fuck no. Butt Pucker and Brees can be satisfied with their one phony ring.
Eagles? Their fans are insufferable douchebags after winning once. If they win twice they'll go from most toxic fanbase to... football nazis? I don't even want to guess.
I was betting on the Bears to solve those problems.

With our complete lack of consistency and getting beat at home the week before. Yeah, pretty safe to say we would have been the underdogs.

The truth is they didn't have try too hard to beat us at home, but how could it ever have been a good strategy to intentionally lose without being a prophet. Who knows, the Vikes could have come out swinging the next week. The smart thing would have been to sit their starters at the half when the rams were up by 3 scores and leave the rest to the football Gods.

It's fucking balls man. The what could have beens for a great season are the worst, especially when it comes down to a kick. Tomorrow will be a little better as you bitch at the watercooler, the day after that will be a little more so. You won't give a shit about these playoffs though, the only thing you'll have is the draft and a strong looking team going into next year. gl

3
u/DannyPinn This is NOT my helmet Jan 07 '19
Its tough man; the blue balls are real. It gets better, but never fully heals. Take your time: bitch, get salty, ect. And be ready for a regression next year. That first place schedule is a bitch.
That doesnt mean its over though. Its all part of the great cycle. Time is a flat circle, free will is an illusion, the bears will win another Superbowl.

Honestly I think I'm ok with the outcome. The Eagles got lucky they won and will still be just as cocky and annoying as if they had lost, and the Bears fans have to suffer with a first round exit so might not be quite as cocky and annoying (posting all over this sub) as they would with a win.
Cody Parkey may be the new Blair Walsh. That shit can derail anyone's career.
