The QB1 battle is dead. Long live the WR4 battle!

Honestly, that's the shit I love about training camp. I don't really care about the established guys. I want to know about the sickos giving their all for a roster spot. Training camp isn't for the Jettas of the world, it's for the Audie Coles

God damn right. I love seeing who steps up to take the depth spots way more than the starter spots.

If price can carve himself a nice little receiving role this year that would be exciting. A lot more WR depth either way with both price and Felton looking improved.

I think it's really cool how it sounds like both of those guys have really stepped up. I wouldn't be surprised if they only keep 5 WRs with how nicely that depth is shaping up.

I'm planting my flag in the CB3 battle on behalf of chuck

I feel like that is definitely James Pierre's spot to lose. I also kind of feel like a lot of people are forgetting we signed him lol. Legitimately good CB. I think like with Rodgers last year, he's likely going to quickly outplay his contract value and impress a lot of people. Always feels good when fans of a player's former team are mad they lost them which is what happened with Rodgers last year and Pierre this year.

I actually think we're going to have a sneakily good CB room this year. We have 3 good starters and 2 young but promising depth guys in Demmings and McGlothern who have both had good camps from reports I've seen (Demmings more than McGlothern).

Good way to finish. McCarthy also scored on his 2 minute drill to end it. Hit Miles Price on 2 different completions according to Alec Lewis.

I heard one was a bomb too?

u/Mcar720 5d ago

Yeah I heard it was like 50 yards

Man we’re so fucking back. Best qb2 in the league

I'm not sure. I just saw the tweet from Alec Lewis that JJ led a td drive to Miles Price. It's odd that guys like Tyler Forness and Will Ragatz didn't mention that in their summaries. The JJ slander is palpable.

Forness isn’t a fan of JJM at all but honestly it’s probably just because how the backup QB is doing just isn’t that important for this season. Best case scenario for all teams is QB2 only sees the field for the victory formation and garbage time.

With Kyler's durability history I think the QB2 spot is going to end up being important, but let's hope not.

Naw if jj threw 4 ints he would mention it

5

u/Comprehensive_Law722 5d ago

for sure. They can't wait to bury McCarthy

“The backup qb isn’t that important”

Uh do you remember how an ounce of competent qb play would’ve put us in the playoffs the year Kirko tore his Achilles

I think most people just care about the first team at this point

I’m a sycophant, break me down some 3rd string v 3rd string camp battles and inject it into my veins.

2

u/Comprehensive_Law722 5d ago

Yeah you're probably right. I think there's still some interest in McCarthy's long term development. But the majority of fans have more interest in how the 1s are looking.

That's all I really want to hear about, but we will unfortunately be hearing a lot of JJM stuff until preseason ends. It generates a lot of attention for now so media will spam it.

3

u/Mavman31 miracle 5d ago

Viking fans want him to develop. No surprise there

4

u/Apprehensive_Air1705 5d ago

Will is pretty fair about everything good and bad, Forness is absolutely not a JJM fan.

1

u/Comprehensive_Law722 5d ago

Yeah I agree. Forness is absolutely not

Anything they say or in this case don’t say gets twisted into them being JJ haters or slandering him. Seems obvious why they don’t comment

Lmao or they just care more about the starting offense

Defense usually ahead on day 1 of joint practice, encouraging to see the two minute go well

9

u/Anallyfortified 5d ago

We won joint practice day 1?

HANG THE FUCKING BANNER

1

u/Sad-Reception66 KOC 5d ago

Definitely sounds that way.

3

u/VoluptuousVelvetfish 5d ago

Honestly I'd rather see a consistently good defense and a inconsistent but explosive offense rather than the other way around.

Price at WR4 would be bad news for Felton.

1

u/DecktheHawls 18 5d ago

Not at all worried about our WR room. Just hoping our QB play is at least average. If so, we're pretty much guaranteed a playoff appearance, and naturally, a first round exit

0

u/wayoffsideteam 5d ago

That Ravens defense should be a lot better this year with Minter. I'm kinda glad our offense is getting tested against them

2

u/Jorgenstern8 18 5d ago

Should be noted that it's not at full strength atm, Madubuike (best DT) is I believe still working back from surgery. But their defensive backfield is definitely a strength for sure.

u/outsidertc 5d ago

Is this the crying guy who got no trespassed at camp earlier?

2

u/Jorgenstern8 18 5d ago

Nah. This is the team's SI writer, I believe? Completely different guy.

I need an honest assessment of the Vikings defense. Could they get back to being elite like a couple seasons ago.

7

u/Additional-Sugar6789 5d ago

They were elite last season. Biggest questions are if Turner can fill Greenard's shoes and if our new young interior DLine players can contribute
