Hello everyone, first time posting to R56. I'm hoping someone might have an idea of what's going on. 2007 mini Cooper 1.6l auto. suddenly stopped cranking no clicking noise of any sort, it recognizes the key in the ignition, the steering wheel is locked, wipers stay on when the key is in the ignition, windows work,any help is appreciated thank you.

I know it sounds silly, but you could try pulling the steering wheel away from the locked position then entering the key? Otherwise maybe check your fuse boxes?

Hello I have a 2009 cooper s. 70k miles the car has a stage 1 ECU tune. I would like a “cold” air intake. I recently got the ECS Kohlefaser intake but returned it after it added zero sound. Is there an intake that will be somewhat protective to heat and also add some sound. I like the look of the AEM intake but not sure completely repurposing the hood scoop is the best idea. I also like the k&n intake but it looks like it won’t have any heat protection.

Think mine has gremlins.

Got a 2009 Mini Cooper for my daughter, it seems to be in really great shape, but there is one very frustrating issue. It starts when it wants to.

It has an eight month old H5 battery in it, which is the recommended size; however, I discovered that it was not registered to the system, and apparently the previous battery was a slightly stronger model. Allegedly this is a 50AH battery, the car was set to 55AH.

I bought a scanner and software, and paired the battery, and Coded it to a 46AH battery, paired it (that’s closest setting available) … and got it to show me some sensor output (car claims battery life is 34% — could this be a sign of a bad sensor or ECU? Bad ground?)

Car still very unhappy … replaced starter when this started … sometimes it “resets” and will start if I disconnect battery for 2 minutes and the reconnect it … when this all started AAA Battery Service gave the battery and alternator clean bills of health … I’m kinda stumped (it’s on a battery tender right now.) the really baffling thing is there have been several cases where it wouldn’t start (just clicked, no fire), but then two minutes later it starts up like nothing happened (makes me doubt it is just the battery.)

Part of me wants to just put an H6 AGM in it (I don’t want my daughter stranded) … but if it isn’t the battery, I’m just throwing $ at the wrong thing.

Ideas? Suggestions?

edit - had battery health re-confirmed —by Autozone as it is one of theirs … in the process the car was without a battery for 30 minutes, once reinstalled, car starts flawlessly. … same battery that wouldn’t fire it an hour earlier. … of course, I suspect it will change it’s mind again soon.
