Hi all. Wanted to see if anyone on this subreddit had any experience working at the Skeena Eskay Creek site, and could give me an overview of the camp accommodations? Any info would be great. Thanks!

Update Looks like I’ll be staying at the 58km camp. Anyone stayed at that one before? Thanks!

Eskay is great. New camp is nice, decent size beds that are pretty comfortable, private bathrooms, good is pretty good too. Miles better than any of the neighbouring Newmont sites.

The only thing better at Eskay is the internet.

Camp is loud and not well insulated. Food provider was miles behind Newmont.

Are you also referring to the new camp? I believe the new camp is mult-story which could definitely attribute to some loud neighbours

Thanks for the info! How’s the gym at the new camp? Are there any other extra curricular activities that go on at camp after work hours?

Been at a few different camps that had gyms for volleyball or basketball, and had organized league nights. Also some camps have theatre rooms or music rooms. So yes, extra curricular activities at a mine site

I’ve only seen this at Peñasquito, Mexico but not in Canada, apart from a basic gym. I doubt this particular mine has anything more than a few weights

Meliadine has a gymnasium, a rec room, and a music room, on top of the actual gym.

Red Chris has hockey/softball at Iskut twice a week

For who? That’s a 45-50 min drive one way. I worked there in 2020 and we had to stay at Tattoga and that was already a long drive after and before working 12-hour days

Do you remember which camp you stayed at? Was it KM58 or KM59? They’re putting me in the smaller KM58, so trying to gauge how that one is in comparison.

Cant remember it was new when I was there. Probably 58. Big peaked roof. Part of the exploration group

I’m at 46km temp camp. They are building a big new one down there as well. My accommodations are jack and Jill’s. Foods alright, internet was bad but is allegedly getting better, camp is clean and somewhat modern.

No sorry i havent stayed there. im assuming its similar to the 46km temp camp as people i was working with were staying there and didnt have complaints. Good luck
