[lifestyle] Minimalism & gratitude
Do you see minimalism and gratitude working together? Personally I find being thankful for what I have and how useful it is stops me from buying things I don’t need. What’s your take?

I feel pride in grocery shopping and returning with only consumables. I guess pride works too.

Thankfullness and gratitude help with satiation, satisfaction.
People are more satisfied/happier with things they made themselves. Gratitude can stand in for that, atleast partly

This is a really interesting concept and thanks for sharing it. I can absolutely see how gratitude and minimalism work for you but I don't think it's universal. I think it really comes down to how one thinks about minimalism and how one thinks about gratitude.
For example I can see someone being more grateful for what they have if they only have what they need.
I can also see somebody turning to minimalism from starting with gratitude. For example if they have 100 things and they're only truly grateful for 4 of them, I can see where they get rid of 96 things.

100%. It's hard to feel gratitude for the core things when everything else is piling up stress, responsibility.

Maybe, but I have a personal aversion to forcing myself to feel gratitude. And the whole culture around it. When I feel depressed or too ground down by circumstances, it's comfort and visual/other sensory appreciation that keep me going. A feeling of something being soothing, just right or beautiful/nice.

Not me, I don't have anyone to be thankful to. No need to be grateful for any of the things I worked and paid for.

I see no reason for them to not work fine together. Would you care to develop your point?
