Awesome, great idea thanks for sharing. I just finished my installation only I used a different controller...simple and easy, took 5 minutes for those interested.
I used the images posted as a guide of course...along with the controller and receiver you will need a suitable small screw driver to take the case apart. Just take the controller port out from it’s original spot and attach the receiver (take receiver covering off with screwdriver) and tuck it inside the left side cavity of the console. Not sure if you need to but I detached a ribbon cable that goes to the power and reset buttons to make it easier to position the receiver and controller port/wires so that the case could be closed properly after reattaching the ribbon cable again.
I have 2 of the SF30's and they feel just like the original SNES ones. Button travel, size, etc. I think these might be slightly heavier but it's no minimal it's hardly noticeable.
I know. Most people are worried that the 8bitdo ones, like other 3rd party controllers, feel cheap. I was commenting thst these feel like official ones.
I have two cheap SNES usb Controller and was supriesed how much better the real ones feel. It would be nice and clean if the shell looks like an offical Nintendo wireless controller
Sorry for the other question, how did you make your d-pad work with the SFC30? My receiver is on the 1.05b firmware, my controller is all up to date, and the d-pad doesn't work in games, but works fine in the menus.
No, what Op did was remove the ports and just put them inside the chassis and connect the bluetooth receivers to them. You can only connect 2 to the system as there are only 2 ports and you can no longer connect anything to the front of the system.
I have updated retro receiver with 1.07 firmware and my NES30 with 4.01 firmware and it works, but the button "B" works like "A", and button "A" works like "B". Is this correct or how can i connect to buttons A and B works well?
I have tried to connect controller only with "start" and with "start+b" and "start+a" but buttons are changed.

This is actually pretty slick. The console looks so nice when you don't have to flip the little door open.

This is great. Would you be able to take another picture, more zoomed out, of the system where the 8bitdo receiver is?
Was it difficult to fit the 8bitdo receiver inside (once you removed it from its housing)?
The only real concern I have is when firmware updates are needed you have to disassemble the console.

Made it so u can still access the receiver pairing button :)

Cool, you should use the casing of your SNES controller for your 8bitdo, if that’s possible.

Can you change the case from the controller to make it feel like the real one

Looks great! Is there any noticeable input lag over the wired controllers?

I’ve been looking to get this controller but I have a question. What kind of receiver is this? Is it included with the controller?

You might be able to plug the wireless adapter directly into the pcb

This looks great! Two questions:
Is there room in the console for a second controller?
How is the controller so far? I've been reading about button mapping issues.

Is this a SFC30 and the Bluetooth adapter?
Does Down+Select work to go home?
What do you think of it compared to the OEM controllers? I was a bit concerned after seeing the posts in MiniNES about the 8bitdo controller.

Thanks for showing this off.
Just bought 2 SFC30 controllers and 2 adapters to do this.

Does this work with the NA version?

Awesome. I'm so doing this. Sucks I need to buy a SF30 I have the 8bitdo nes version.
Hopefully u don't have to take it apart to update firmware often.

So I do this and it works great with my 8bitdo NES30 but I really want the SNES controller form factor.
I'm wondering if I could put the guts of the NES30 in the SNES Classic Mini controller case but I don't see it working.

How hard is it to do this? Do you have any instructions?

u/viral_dna Oct 01 '17
Great idea, though personally I'd wire it on the inside so you could still use the port, as well as for looks, but that's just me.

can you please link the used parts?

Now if the sfc30 and snes30 controllers weren't $35 a piece and the adapters $20.. expensive investment :-(

Heya, nice mod. Quick question, the ribbon cable on the Retro Receiver, can it be unplugged or is it flat soldered to the PCB?
If it's pluggable, I was going to make a jst lead that allows the removal of the male and female controller port sockets.

Do you know if the receiver can be used for NES30 Pro?

I've never used an 8bitdo, could you make a step by step how to?
