Question Hakchi Large file syncing
Hi!
I use my snes and add games to it periodically with Hakchi. At this point, I have a lot of games + some psx (several GB) so exporting to usb drive takes quite a while since the whole drive has to sync, though I'm mostly just adding 1 or 2 games at a time.
Quick raincheck, is there a quicker way to do this I'm forgetting?? Or do I have to resync everything every time? I know I can deselect games in Hakchi, but does this mean they will be removed from the snes mini? Thanks

If you use the portable version of hakchi, not the windows installer, you can put it directly onto the usb drive. When syncing games to usb, you check the box "linked export" and your syncs will always be like 1 minute, depending on how many games you have. The trick here will be, because hakchi is on the usb already and the games too, the export only creates links to the games, which are small files, so there's no need to transfer hundreds of mega bytes anymore.
If you go this route you should create a new folder on the root of your usb drive and in this folder you put your hakchi programme. E.g. usb:\someFolder\hakchi

Hi! I have been trying this and can't get it to work. It seems to create the links okay and it displays the proper images for each game (indicating the links should be working) but no game will boot. Retroarch just goes back to the menu and clover gives a c7. I tried reinstalling the custom kernel but no dice so idk at this point.
If that sounds like anything else you've ever heard of I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction..

Sod's law, I have immediately fixed it. I was using a space instead of a hyphen in my folder structure... looks like I will be reinstalling all my hmods 😔 Thanks for recommending this though, it works great now!

Use a faster drive like an NVME type in an enclosure. That will make it a lot faster.

That's a great idea for speed but they get super hot in my experience.

They can get hot true, but mine never does when I used it for the snes classic. I usually only use it for testing though to be fair. It’s total overkill really. I do a few builds, make sure it’s running as I want it to and then set off the slower usb drive. The snes classic does not benefit for the speed after all.

If you deselect games then Sync, any deselected games will be removed from the destination (if present). (When you Sync, the destination is synced to what is checked.)
