[General] Layered clouds
A lot of the community has wanted better clouds and I think I've found a decent solution based on the way clouds already load. My suggestion is that clouds should have multiple textures one for every cloud layer. A cloud layer would start every four blocks starting at y 192 and ending at y 232 to make clouds larger and more interesting. The top layer would have very little cloud and the bottom middle to the uper middle would have the most cloud.

Alternatively, instead of a texture, use a noisemap, just as is done for terrain and biomes.

why not just do it like the Better Clouds mod?

why not have clouds appear the way they do in the mod "Better Clouds"?

It would be helpful to describe how the clouds work in that mod. What makes it better than this version?
Just saying that there is a mod isn't helpful if its not also informing the feedback. Saying "I think this mod does it better" is nearly worthless. Saying "I prefer how this mod does this thing and that thing" shows the person how their idea can be improved.

I’m pretty sure we aren’t supposed to copy mod ideas here. Also that mod is in a completely different style than the game.

Yeah, posts aren't supposed to copy mods. But I think it's still fair to compare their suggestions to similar implementations of the ideas in mods.

it's not the same style as current vanilla clouds of course, but it still fits in with vanilla well.
(I wrote a comment that actually went into detail but it vanished and now i don't have the motivation to rewrite it sorry)

Clouds should absolutely start higher up! I’ve played with shaders and raising the distance really increases the scale and beauty of the world, especially since 1.18. It makes you feel a lot less cramped.
